Series Preview: Anaheim Angels @ Seattle Mariners

Last year the average tRA for an American League starting pitcher was 4.94. This year it is 4.46. It has actually dipped lower than the National League which fell to 4.56 from 4.60. A nearly half run drop for the entire league is pretty large and not entirely our fault. It does make it harder for our starters to distinguish themselves.

Tue Aug 31, 19:10: Felix Hernandez vs. Dan Haren
Wed Sep 01, 19:10: Jason Vargas* vs. Trevor Bell
Oh hells yeah, September! Finally.
In case you were wondering how Dan Haren has been doing since coming back to the AL, the answer is good. The good news is that he hasn't been too good. His strikeouts have predictably fallen and he's missing many fewer bats. His FIPs are nearly identical between Arizona and Anaheim, but his xFIP has risen to well over 4. It's a small sample, but hey we gotta hope for something in 2011. Damn you, Diamondbacks.
Trevor Bell hasn't allowed a home run yet this season in the rotation and just one while he was in the bullpen. Make him pay uhhh... hopefully soon to be called up Rainiers.
Seriously, go to hell Arizona. You have dumb management.

Dude, the LA Angels changed their name like five years ago
granted, it’s their own fault people still keep calling them Anaheim, since that stupid “of Anaheim” is still attached.
Soooo your point is?

Actually the title of the post should be Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim @ Seatte Mariners
but for the sake of brevity and making fun of a team for calling themselves the LA Angels despite not playing in LA county, they are known as the Anaheim Angels in the title of this post.
Does this answer your trivial concern?

What were the Rams called when they played in the stadium the Angels still play in?
Right, the Los Angeles Rams.
And look at what happened to them.
Boom, roasted.
Is your last name 74?
No? Then stop complaining.

Keep pushing it and they'll be the California Angels

Well duh, they lost Chone Figgins.
According to my calculations, your problem doesn't exist.

I don't see many guys getting called up this year.
Everyone interesting is already here (Saunders, Moore), or they need them for the PCL playoffs (Smoak), or they need to rest (Pineda).
Really, who else is there?
"Seems to me if you bought your Sunday beer on Saturday night, this becomes a complete non-issue."
Nobody that I can think of.
Anybody that would be remotely interested will be in Tac for the playoff run. There are actually a number of fairly interesting guys that COULD otherwise come up, even beyond Smoak.
I am going to come into your house at night and rec up the place.
FUCK YEAH
According to my calculations, your problem doesn't exist.

Do guys have to be on the 40 man to come up in September? I'm not sure how the whole expanding roster thing works. I should, though...

Yes
Therein lies a bit of a problem, although Bradley and Kelley (remember them?) could be moved to the 60-man DL to make room.
