Churchill on Russia: a riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma
We are notoriously lazy, and we wrap ourselves in ‘riddles’ which is slang for apathy toward baseball.

So he's just not very coachable?

Smart.
The word you’re going for is “smart.”

I like Lopez more than I should so this is just going to push me more in that direction
which is probably a bad thing but at least he is fun to watch and hear about.
I'm glad she wrote this
There seem to be conflicting opinions on his work ethic amongst the Mariners beat writers. Drayer had no problem ripping Yuni a new one when he left, so I tend to trust her at least a little bit on this.
I’ve always had the perception that he isn’t the most hard-working guy out there, but hardly the least either. I think some of his other personality traits, body type, and style of play (and lack of progression in style of play) have led to his “lazy” classification, when in reality he’s just not a great player and hasn’t developed as advertised.
But then, this is mostly conjecture based on a number of reports, so it’s very likely not accurate.
Seeing his improvement on defense this year convinced me that he can't be that lazy.
Slightly retarded? You bet. Lazy? Nah.
You're dead to me.
Indeed. This quote is my favorite.
What about the weight? Lopez has noticeably slimmed down but no one seems to want to report that. I asked him recently about this and he laughed. “No one sees it because I do it all in the gym,” he said of his increased workouts. “I have to buy a lot of new pants.” What prompted him to increase his workouts? So he could better make the plays to his left. “I think I could get to more,” he told me. “I am going to work very hard on that this winter.”

I wonder if he would rather be viewed as lazy or dumb as a rock.

I guess lazyness is a detrement to your personal life; something you can change.
While being “dumb” would mostly be out of your control. If Lopez is a proud person, then I would venture a guess that he would rather be called dumb than lazy/.

I like the guy in the comments who says he goes to Safeco to see two players..
Lopez and Tui.
God bless that man.
As for the article. Whatever, he’s a shitty player. I couldn’t care less about how nice he is or how hard he works. He’s not a player to rely on and use going forward.
Rudy makes me so sad. =(
