Open Tacoma Rainiers Game Thread
Another tandem start time with Seattle and Tacoma gives us the opportunity to follow along as Mauricio Robles makes his Triple-A debut. Robles had 130 strikeouts in 126 innings with West Tenn's starting rotation. He has a bit of a control issue, but hey Jarrod Washburn has an unemployment issue.
I don't know if this is on TV, but you can listen in here or follow on Gameday here

3 groundouts, no flyouts
We got useful prospects for Washburn and Yuni. Not just fringey useful guys either, guys with the potential to be good.
I love Z.

I'm hoping this was a joke.
Guy has still got some serious control issues.

They've gotten better.
But a good month of July shouldn’t seal his spot in the Mariners rotation for April.

Indeed
And his walk rates aren’t awful for the amount of strikeouts he gets. He definitely just needs some time in AAA to try and figure it out. Probably for most of next year.

Three-fifths of the Tacoma rotation is only 21.

Including Hyphen right now, 117, probably closer to 119 if you want to get technical about it.

Wait hold on...
I think we’re thinking of it differently, because I had Baldwin in there and you had Feierabend and both were in the rotation as of recently.
It may be possible that they’ve gone to a six-man in an attempt to keep everyone’s innings down, in which case the answer would be 141ish.

But then Hyphen's probably going to be out soon, so it's probably short lived.

Or Baldwin could just move out.

He's some guy around his physical prime who signed as a minor league FA earlier in the year.

People usually get excited about Mike Wilson and then realise this.

Is this before or after they realize that Mike Wilson isn't very good?
by Fuckmikereilly on Aug 15, 2010 2:38 PM PDT up reply actions
Most people don't realise Mike Wilson isn't very good.
but hey, he’s in his physical prime, and despite minor defensive shortcomings, he can hit longballs and walk a bit. Someone will probably want him. I don’t care so long as he stops being my problem.

I do it sometimes too, but man twitter hashtags are becoming inane.

One of the reasons I don't want to jump on the Twitter wagon is the expectation of having to use them.
A lot of the time, they’re relevant. I see the BA guys always hashtag the teams involved and that’s swell.
Using a vague one, or one that probably will only be used once? Bleh.

I seldom ever hashtag anything. You can use Twitter without them.

I'm just making up excuses.
I don’t want to use Twitter anyway.

Good for you Jay.
Anything anyone has to say that is worth saying, is worth saying in more then six words. That’s what I’m saying.
Pineda's upcoming starts
Does anyone know when Pineda is penciled in? I’d love to make it down to Tacoma to watch him before he gets shut down for the year…
