What's exciting in Everett?
I'm going to see the Aquasox on Thursday (I'm in Vancouver, and they'll be up here to play the Canadians). Is there any player in particular to whom I should be paying attention?
Nat Bailey Stadium is a great place to watch outfield defense, incidentally, as it's enormous (335' down the lines - 420' to centre). And the wall is always at least 20' high, so single-A hitters aren't hitting many jacks there.
Let me know if we (we being Seattle) have anyone interesting in Everett these days.
Thanks.

So shouldn't this be "Who is exciting on the Everett team?"
Rather than “What is exciting in Everett?”
Two different questions really.

Can you answer either question?
I feel like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football. Ugh
If you like Salsa dancing and Mofungo,
I highly recommend Marimba on Hewitt.
"Seems to me if you bought your Sunday beer on Saturday night, this becomes a complete non-issue."
I think they changed it this year. Because I don't remember it always being this awesome.
According to my calculations, your problem doesn't exist.

I still see that as a sideways M rather than an E

It is very cool, but I kinda miss the super 90s lookin' frog.

Hmmmm
Kalian Sams is ‘interesting’ as he’s running historic two true outcome numbers – (HR+SO)/PA. That’s kind of fascinating, but as he’s not been able to crack the short-season to low-A full-season divide, he’s clearly a non-prospect.
Steve Baron may fall into a similar camp – lots of attention, lots of interest in his defense and ARL, but the questions keep piling up about is ability to hit pitched baseballs at any sort of acceptable level.
Anthony Phillips is from South Africa, and that’s interesting right there. At least until Dylan Unsworth gets promoted.
Kevin Rivers and Ryan Royster can hit a bit, but are old for the league (esp. the latter).
Sams hit 2 home runs at the game on Sunday.
Sams hit 2 home runs in a game I saw him in last year. Sams has been in Everett part of every season since 2007. He has power and can hit, but that’s about it. He is constantly shuttled between A clubs.
Baron has had some good games and some NOT good games, but he is young and an interesting one.
Last week 5 or 6 guys got promoted because they were doing so well, but the Aquasox were in first place for the first half, and are tied for first for the second half. No Fluke, they have a solid team this year. As “Z” says, we have some solid people coming up through the minors to build the team from the ground up.
Mailloux, Rivers and Royster can hit. Terry Serrano can hit, but his inability to actually play a field position makes me want to throw things at him every time he boots a ball…
I have enjoyed every game I have been at this year because the Aquasox look much better than they have in the past 3 or 4 seasons. I hope you can enjoy them as a whole, because they are a good team this year.

Baron has actually hit well lately.
Mailloux also has an advanced ability to handle a bat. Other hitters… well, there’s local boy Hawkins Gebbers. Evan Sharpley used to be a quarterback and is pretty athletic though I don’t know if he hits enough long-term. Anston might be a poor/penniless man’s Johnny Damon.
Seco has a lot of potential, moreso if the strides in command he’s made in the past two months are legitimate. If not, I like Anthony Fernandez better in the rotation. Kesler’s supposed to be a guy who might start next year.

"at any sort of acceptable level" doesn't preclude sporadic success in the NWL.
Edlando Seco is a poor man’s Yoervis Medina.
Evan Sharpley… probably a NP at this point as well.
This was my situation coming into the season.
I look at the roster and think “on a prospecting level, none of these guys interest me. This team’s going to suck.”
And now they have a .700 winning percentage or something.

In the minors, the correlation is often strongly negative.
Lots of college-trained bats, older DSL/VSL arms at Everett? WINS!
HS prospects? Losses!
I see this all the time in AAA. It was awesome having a 20yo Adam Jones, Wlad, Choo, Felix, Cabrera, but man if you want to win you get yourself a Brad Nelson, a Chris Woodward and some David Pauleys.
I'd like to have it both ways though.
Like the ‘03 San Antonio Missions, though they probably aren’t the best example.

Mailloux hit two dingers today and I'm looking pretty smart.

Anthony Phillips is up in Tacoma for some reason (filling roster space, I assume).

Woodward got called up and they needed someone to play short.
He keeps getting the call for that reason.
Maybe they’ll find someone on the FA market, maybe they won’t.

Yeah, he's been up to Tacoma earlier this year.
Didn’t play much, but he was ready on the bench in case someone got hurt.
Carlton Tanabe, currently on the AZL M’s, was called up as the emergency catcher once or twice as well.
