Currently 1-1 in the 64th minute after Van Brockhorst hit an absolute laser from 35-plus feet in the 18th minute, and Diego Forlan answers with his own blast from outside the penalty area in the 41st minute.
As my wife's paternal side is pure Dutch, I am rooting for the men in orange, although I find Arjen Robben to be terribly overrated and unfortunately theatrical. Although there is a certain pluckiness to Uruguay that I find appealing.

Holland could not have tried harder to lose this game
I’m glad they failed. I really want them to win the whole thing.
Weird ending
but it was an entertaining match most of the way.
Hell of a shot by van Bronckhorst, and Robben’s header was almost enough to outweigh every other thing he did in the game.
I thought he stayed remarkably more vertical today than he has in a while
which isn’t saying much but still.

Maybe so, but the shank on the rebound shot was bad
and the messed up breakaway was sort of hilarious.
I can take the bad play as long as he stays on his feet
now that I think about it maybe concentrating on staying upright affected the rest of his game!

And he had plenty of grass time; he got to practice the full range of grimaces and pained screams
Just not as much as other games.
I'm sad to see Uruguay go.
I don’t like it when new countries win the world cup. I was terribly annoyed when France won and explanded the group of all-time winners from 6 nations to 7.
But in that group is Uruguay (and Italy, Brazil, England, Argentina, Germany, plus France). Uruguay won the first world cup.
Also, I’m historically a Paraguay fan, and Uruguay’s not so different.
I like using semi-colons; they make me feel smart.
