Jack Hannahan is No More
Unconfirmed reports are stating that "[the] Red Sox acquired 3B Jack Hannahan from the Mariners for a player to be named later or cash considerations."
I always had high hopes for Jack Hannahan. He, along with Ryan Langerhans, represented a point where I had absolute faith in our front office. Adrian Beltre had just gotten hurt and we really needed a third baseman. No, put your hand down Tui. A real third baseman. Jack Hannahan was that third baseman. A left-handed and patient hitting third baseman to boot. Yeah, he had no power or contact skills but lets not be greedy.
It is only with the joy of the past and no longer hope for the future that I gaze upon this face
Oh Jack...

Goddamnit
All that and he’s a good looking guy too. We need more of those.
According to my calculations, your problem doesn't exist.
We still have some good looking guys...
Ichiro, Guti, RRS, Cliff, Saunders, Felix, and Branyan isn’t bad either. And Shawn Kelley looks like Leo DiCaprio, so you could probably count him too. Anyone else?
Milton Bradley is my hero.
Good point, I'm just saying, the way the season is going might as well be as many pretty faces as possible.
And Ackley (I hope soon)
According to my calculations, your problem doesn't exist.

Melenious already jumped ship from Lee to Ackley.

Shame...I'll miss him.
He is a good player and a good person (well I don’t actually know if he is a good person but he seems like it).
Milton Bradley is my hero.

Don't get too sad though
If Jack Hannahan gets steady playing time on your team, something has likely gone very wrong.
Off the top of my head I can't remember who our 3B is
Seriously. I can’t.

Not really sad
Wish I had a buck for every time he worked a 3-2 count only to swing through a middle in fastball.
do any of you know
what you got in return?

ok
PTBL has to be on 40-man, correct?

No
I don’t remember if the rule is that it can’t be someone currently on the 25-man, or that it can’t be someone currently in the same league as Hannahan.

No.
A PTBNL can basically be anyone, at any level in the organization, except that the player must change leagues, including minor leagues. Incidentally, I don’t think any of our affiliates share a league with a Red Sox affiliate.
Not since they moved out of Lancaster.
That was a riot.

Karma police, arrest this man.

This is a sad day.
A LH-hitting utility guy would have been great, especially in Safeco. I still wonder why he wasn’t on the team at all this year.

A left-handed hitting, OBP-oriented, defensive whiz utility infielder would be useful on this team.
Hannahan had the potential to be that and did not pan out. Ergo, it is sad.

Not even I can pretend to care these days.

OBP oriented seems like a bit of an exaggeration to me.
It’s more like he can’t hit for average or power but he can walk, thereby mitigating the effect a little. His 85 wOBA+ ceiling isn’t exactly exciting.
But the point is valid that he can defend well all over the diamond.
I’d like to know what we got for him. Granted, it won’t be much, but at the very least, it seems like a guy who could be a serviceable reliever or utility man?
A serviceable reliever or utility man at the minor legaue level, in all likelihood.

I wish Jack the best
He was a personal favorite and I am sad we won’t get to see him with the m’s again. I remember the game he hit two homers vs. Detroit in Comerica last year. good times.
Not happy about this
I was hoping they’d bring Hannahan up to replace Lopez.

That just makes too much sense.
If there was ever a situation that Gordon could thrive in, it’s Seattle’s 2010-2011.
Not sure what he’s worth, or what we’d be willing to give up for him. A talented high-minors OF and mid-range pitching prospect?
If I was a hungry man with a gun in my hand and some promises to keep...
I don't like it.

When using the subject line, please enter a whole sentence instead of one word.
And please stop putting carriage returns. It makes it much easier to read.
Instead
of everything you post
being like this
which gets annoying.
Thanks!

Well at least we pissed of the Yankees some more.
I was never super hot for Hannahan, but he’s always found a way to be useful. Even in leaving he finds a way to help out. Congrats on getting back to the bigs and good luck, Jack.
