Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

As [Bedard] was walking out the door, I asked whether it looks like he's going to pitch at all this season. He replied "Probably not.''

You stole my heart with your demeanor and your amazing curveball, Erik.

That trade was horrible and I hate to have it end like this =(. Bon Courage Erik.

You got slurved!

I would still like to see him signed next season

incetives based only at this point though, Bedard will not be in a position to demand a payday anytime soon

It's not like 1.5 million is a huge payday.

Though I imagine it will be a much cheaper deal, if it happens.

His $1.5 mil contract gave me a lot of hope throughout the season

Totally worth it. Apparently I like false hope more than no hope at all.

Fucking A, that is perfect.

At least he’s being honest.

Depressing.

Even though the season is lost, and his contributions don’t mean anything, I certainly would have liked to see him pitch every 5th game over David Pauley.

I guess at least our payroll won’t be hit by him achieving his incentives at least!

How would this matter?

It’s not like they could improve the team in some other way if he doesn’t get a bigger paycheck.

Erik Bedard was one of my favorites when he was an Oriole

I’d pick him up every year in fantasy leagues because no one knew who he was, and then watch the strikeouts pile up. He was never an elite pitcher, but when he was on it was perfectly spotted fastball, impossible curveball, impossible curveball, sit down, and it was fun to watch.

I had mixed feelings when the trade went down, because I loved Adam Jones and George Sherrill. Now it just makes me sad. Like Chris Snelling.
