Huh Blowers said the pitch that Saunders hit for his second HR was the Lefty Lube Zone.
You got slurved!
That he did.

Fister and Vargas are good, but not Aces
They’ve just been lucky.
Some luck.
But also some legit improvement.

It's really sad that we won't get to see much of a Felix, Lee, Bedard, Fister, Vargas rotation
That one automatic loss per turn has been hurting us all season.

Hey, technically, this team could still break the '01 team's record for wins...
if they finish the rest of the season with an 84-1 record.
Well RRS is facing Sabathia tomorrow so it will have to be 84-0

What's Rob's bases allowed compared to his total bases now?
I remember when it was like 20 allowed to 19 contributed.

So, I compiled some stats. Over the past 6 Felix or Lee starts, the pitching line has been the following.
9 IP
6 H
.5 HR
1 BB
7 2/3 Ks
1 1/3 Rs
Absolutely insane.
33!
Man, I felt special when you shared that with me!
Now I find out I’m just your sounding ground for ideas? I am hurt!
2/3 of a strikeout isn't very useful.

I hate the Yankees so much, that I hope we keep Lee so that he can beat them
again next week at Safeco. Then Felix will beat them again. Then maybe get Bedard to beat them. And Vargas will beat them.
Then we can trade Lee and lose the rest of our games for all I care.
P.S. Saunders is awesome. It’s a great sign that he’s hitting for so much power, even if his OBP sucks so far.
Saunders OBP will improve with time. I'm so glad he has the power I thought he had.
I think we finally have an answer in LF. It’s been a long time coming.
by TrustBaseball on Jun 30, 2010 9:39 PM PDT up reply actions
Yup. Tonight was a very good night. I have no doubt Saunders will bring that batting average and OBP
up with more experience. The power he’s flashing is something we had to see at the ML level.
I actually feel for the first time in awhile that we have a good young position player who is going to be a valuable asset to this team for the next handful of seasons.
I am hoping that Jack Z waits until after the All-Star break to trade Lee just so I can see him pitch at Safeco once more.
Yeah, I suppose he could get hurt, but Im really content with taking the draft picks if something like
that happens. I haven’t been blown away with some of the names mentioned in possible Lee deals. I’m okay if we just get picks.

I think that is totally worth keeping Lee for the rest of the year.
2010 Safeco Field Record: 1-1 ; Overall Safeco Field Record: 11-5
I'll be honest its just because I want to see us go through a Lee-Felix-Bedard-Vargas-Fister rotation atleast once.
2010 Safeco Field Record: 1-1 ; Overall Safeco Field Record: 11-5
That would be AWESOME!
Although, I’m not sure it’s worth it. Isn’t that just to greedy?

Assuming Cliff stays for one more start and Bedard is ready...
RRS, Fister, Vargas, Lee, Felix, Bedard is the lineup. So we’ll hopefully get it at least once.
by Fuckmikereilly on Jun 30, 2010 10:02 PM PDT up reply actions
on YES, Al Leiter had some pretty good comments.
Basically, his comments were down the lines of “Jack Z is not stupid” and won’t automatically deal him. Al’s view of Cliff’s worth was also pretty high… like 4 really high quality MLB ready prospects, I believe. His view is that offers need to be A LOT higher than the 2 comp picks that the M’s get if he leaves in free agency.
No team is going to get hosed in this deal. But is possible for us to get a good deal.
If GMZ gets more than one team involved in the trade, we could end up with more than just a ready-to-go player and a high prospect. Whoever gets Lee obviously will want to part with a subpar SP, which we really don’t need. There are too many scenarios/needs for now and in the future for me to get my head around, but I believe GMZ can probably get maximum value for us and satisfy everyone else involved at the same time.
by TrustBaseball on Jun 30, 2010 10:45 PM PDT up reply actions
If we can somehow pluck and pluck from the Rangers farm system, it would be a dream scenario.
They can’t take on salary? Great, it’s 4 million dollars – pay it. We need to deplete the shit out of their future while building up ours.
by Kenneth Arthur on Jun 30, 2010 10:55 PM PDT up reply actions
It doesn't need to be a lot higher than the 2 comp picks.
Lee is worth absolutely nothing to us at this point beyond comp picks.
by Fuckmikereilly on Jun 30, 2010 10:12 PM PDT up reply actions
Lee's value is not dictated by his value to us, its his value to the teams interested in him.
A man with no arms can still sell another guy a pair of gloves for a decent price because there is a market for gloves. Lee is worth more than two picks to us because people will pay more than 2 picks for him.
by Edgar for Pres on Jun 30, 2010 10:24 PM PDT up reply actions
Just pointing out his comments.
Not commenting necessarily on the relative “correctness” of Al’s comments. You are also getting a half season of ticket revenues and probable wins during his starts. His view seems to be that Lee is potentially the one elite difference maker for some teams (there is no other person available in this class). I suppose a way to look at it whether any team on the cusp of the playoffs believes it is worth mortgaging their future to win this year.
A lot of commentators and radio guys think we're going to hit a gold mine.
I heard Michael Kay on the radio today state we were getting four great prospects that would revamp our organization.
However, he then later started pondering whether the Mets could get Lee and Figgins, and we’d get Luis Castillo…
I think we’d all be happy getting one real good prospect and a couple of guys who could be average regulars
Every time I listen to Michael Kay
I can’t decide who I want to punch in the head, me or Michael Kay.

I'm not content with draft picks. Lee is worth so much more than 2 first round draft picks.
If that’s all we get then our GM failed.
by Edgar for Pres on Jun 30, 2010 10:21 PM PDT up reply actions
Unfortunately, our GM won't fail. He'll get the best deal he can and we will have
to see a very good pitcher (who was OURS) pitch in another uniform.

Jack Z does some interesting things
Maybe he goes totally off the board and does something like dealing him to the Yomiuri Giants for the rights to every child named Ichiro born in Japan for the next 20 years…
Has this happened before?
Does anyone know if an All Star player was dealt before the game, however they only played a few or no games with a new team? An obscure question, but I’ve been thinking about it recently.
Carlos Silvelite
If he goes to the NL, I don't believe he will make the All-Star team. They would only count NL stats.
I think.
by Kenneth Arthur on Jun 30, 2010 10:56 PM PDT up reply actions
Sorry, think you might be wrong
Pitchers are selected by the managers of the teams. Thus, they probably can select whoever they want.
Close.
I believe pitchers are selected by player voting, however the manager may also add a pitcher as part of his selections. I’m pretty sure Charlie Manuel would select Cliff “I corn holed the Yankees in the world series for you” Lee for his All Star squad.
Didn't Sabbathia?
Or was he traded after the break?
by Hopefulmsfan on Jun 30, 2010 11:06 PM PDT up reply actions
He didn't make the All-Star team that year.
Strange, I wonder how many Cy Youngs weren’t All-Stars.
From my understanding, if the roster were to be chosen after the trade, Lee would pitch in his new team’s uni. If the roster were chosen with Lee as a Mariner, then he was traded before the game, he would play the game as a Mariner.

Jeff Shaw
“[Shaw] was selected to the 1998 All Star Game as a member of the Cincinnati Reds, but was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers at the beginning of the All Star break, thus his first game he pitched in a Dodger uniform was in the 1998 All Star Game.” Infallible Source
Has there been a more enjoyable game this year?
We got two condor homes, a muscle sex blast and a dominant Felix performance at Yankee stadium.
Homes sounds gangster.

Safeco Field hurts our hitting more than it helps our pitching.
Yankee Stadium aids or hitting more than it hurts our pitching.
Is this postulate correct?
Cliff Lee and Felix. Safeco really benefits the Vargas and Fister types who get results like
- and #3 starters due to Safeco and our defense. I would not feel comfortable with either of those guys lasting long at Yankees Stadium.
This is why I am scared for RRS.
I have images of the Yankees lineup having Batting Practice with him tomorrow.

If you bastards had played to your normal levels we would be having a completely different conversation now. It’s not Wak’s fault, it’s not Sleepy Griffey’s fault, it’s your fault. I’m looking at you Figgins. And you Bradley, you headcase sombitch. And definitely you Kotchman, you goddamn screwface double play machine. Lopez, fuck off and go away. Johnson, eat shit and die. White, you are terrible. League, throw the damn splitter. Wak is far from blameless and yes, they’ve been unlucky. But mostly they sucked. The icing isn’t coming off.
It's more a question about how win expectancy works
Can it ever be 100% before the 27th out is recorded?
It can be so close that it rounds up
but technically, no, of course the WE% should never be 100% before the end of the game.
