DePaula Admits New Age, Identity
"DePaula had presented himself as Rafael DePaula Figueroa with an April 1, 1992 date of birth; he is now 19-year-old Jose Rafael DePaula born March 24, 1991. Alderson declined to comment on DePaula's current eligibility to sign, noting that the league is currently reviewing the facts of his case. "
The plot thickens.

He's older.
Dunno about his signability. Someone else should answer that.

Whoopsies.

I wonder if this means he can be blocked from signing again.
Also, dude, it’s one year. You know how long ban on your signing lasted when they thought there were inconsistencies? ONE YEAR.

Oh right, that was the leap leap year.

Is this someone we're after or... who is he again?

18 vs. 19?
I’d still take him. He’s not far off from a prep kid in age and he has good stuff (if the reports are accurate). As long as the Feds don’t get too heavily in the way, he’s still worth a risk.
Though I’d knock a zero off the offer.

Oh this hasn't watered down the interest at all, and maybe not the offers much either.
From my understanding, teams were already operating under the assumption that he was probably a year or so older than he was letting on.
If anything, they might be able to take a chance on him being closer to physical maturity and turn him loose.
He’ll still get a deal akin to a solid, though inexperienced prep draft pick.
