Futures Game, bitches! Mariner representatives will be Alex Liddi and Carlos Peguero. The game will be played in Anaheim on July 11th, which the studious reader might notice is in the future. Spooky. It's worth noting that Liddi represented the Mariners in 2009, along with Tyson Gillies. Does this mean that Carlos Peguero will end up being the major piece in an offseason trade for Roy Halladay? All signs point to yes.
After his showing in the WBC, I wonder if Greg Halman has to ask out of these things. Or maybe it's used as a threat.
Coach: Dammit Greg, if you swing at one more of those sliders out of the zone, I'm sending you to the Futures Game.
Halman: Don't do it, coach! I don't wanna be on TV!
Coach: Don't swing at bad pitches.
Halman: Coach!
Coach: DON'T SWING AT BAD PITCHES
Halman: But coach, I promise!
Coach: SO HELP ME GOD I WILL TELEVISE YOU SO FAST

Erik Bedard reportedly hit 93 with his fastball yesterday. Apparently he'll make another two minor league starts before the Mariners evaluate whether he can come back up. It's something. There won't be a lot to watch on this team after Cliff Lee gets dealt, but Erik Bedard is something. Plus, he'd allow us to keep thinking optimistically about 2011. "Well if Bedard's healthy, and he wants to come back..." Just wait'll you see all the Felix/Bedard/Pineda/Fister/Vargas comments left on blogs and message boards. Three aces!
- Cliff Lee is still a Mariner.

Doug Fister is scheduled to come back to pitch against the Brewers on Saturday. Doug Fister has been on the disabled list since June 1st, and as such he has spent the past three weeks actively not regressing. A little Hart/Fielder/Braun should be able to take care of that.
