The One Trade I Wish We Could Take Back
Matt Thornton was one of my favorite pitchers when he was with the M's and I'm ecstatic that he is finally doing well. I just wish that his success could have happened here.

Thats funny
Last night I was thinking to myself “who would i rather have back, Thornton or Soriano?”
The answer was definitely Thornton for me.
Assuming current abilities?
Because Thornton sucked when he left here – Soriano was already good. Whatever they did to Thornton in CHI – I seem to remember an article about the pitching coach lengthening his stride – turned him from a guy who threw hard but didn’t have a clue where it was going to a guy who threw hard with enough control to be a good pitcher.
What why no love for Soriano
He was the shut-down guy with the mariners. Its also possible I have a skewed memory of Thorton because of his blowup outings with us.
Of all the king's horses and all the king's men
It’s Matt Thornton you want back again?

Yes. I have an irrational love for him.
Karma police, arrest this man.

I miss the death spiral image
But it still comes out whenever we play the White Sox, which is just often enough to still give me a chuckle.
FUCK THE MARINERS!
Um, there a few other trades that I would undo waaaaay before this one.
And the token “Fuck you Bavasi” for the day works right here as well.

This had to be a joke.
Please tell me this was a joke.

Seriously Dude?
That would have been the most lopsided trade ever. They would have asked for at least a B prospect in addition to Matt Thornton for a box of used condoms.
