I seriously forgot the Mariners were even playing today until I jumped on Twitter 20 minutes ago.
I guess that’s where I’m at!
I miss Thursday off days
It would appear that the Mariners took one anyway!
by Jeff Sullivan on Jun 10, 2010 7:44 PM PDT up reply actions
You probably didnt miss much.
I’m going to be honest I was avoiding checking to see how the Mariners did today. This was the last of the websites I check when I get home, when its normally the 2nd or 3rd. I knew with RRS struggling to get command with the ball there was no way we could have won.
I miss the Mariners, I was too young to remember the good years, but at least I have 2001.
Lets just stop rebuilding the USS Mariner
It obviously wants to stay on the ocean floor.

Can the squid give better hugs than Sweendawg?
If so, make him our new DH.

On the bright side,
The Orioles won, and this puts the Angels another game back.

I am glad I missed most of this shit for a delicious dinner.
I don't have a solution but I admire the problem.
If an un-injured Michael Saunders does not play 90% of the games from here on out
There will be consequences.

If he doesn't get all of the starts in LF, I'll help with the consequences. This is a no-brainer.

Having missed the game can somebody please explain
.1 innings, 4 hits, 4 runs, 0 ER? That’s the most ridiculous line I’ve seen.

Oh, Ryan.
@ hyphen18
Still have 100 games to go! Guys on this team are way better than what is happening! Just ran into a very hot team….
This is why he's a baseball player
And we are fans. I wouldn’t be tweeting happily after getting killed two straight nights. I would be depressed an not returning texts or phone calls.
I think I'd be concerned about him if he started acting differently on twitter
“Still have 100 games to go! Wish I didn’t suck so much! I don’t know what I’m doing anymore and the team is imploding! Yikes!”
by Gihyou on Jun 10, 2010 9:09 PM PDT up reply actions 5 recs
We gave up twelve runs and the game was over in 3 hours. Pretty impressive.
Didn’t see today’s game, but it sure does seem like this team isn’t trying anymore.
That’s fine with me. I’m a big believer in if you’re going to be bad, you should be really bad. Gotta work on that draft pick.
We know they're trying
But I don’t see any life in this team when they’re on the field. It’s like they’re not totally into it while it’s happening.
Not that I blame them.
By the 3rd inning of the last two games the team had already given up 8 and 7 runs respectively. Although Game 2 featured sloppier play from defense, it has to be deflating to have to score 9 runs or more to have a chance. They’ve only done that TWICE this year.
Well this was a fun filled few days
And RRS’s tweets honestly make this worse.
The guy on the postgame show right now sounds like someone from Chatterbox (GTA3).
He wants Jack gone already.
I had the opportunity to hear that guy.
Apparently everyone but Cliff Lee sucks.

I don't think you understand what "Tropic of Cairo" means
by Jeff Sullivan on Jun 10, 2010 9:44 PM PDT up reply actions
A tropic is an arbitrary circle of latitude
So unless the Tropic of Cairo is 0 degrees south, there can easily be a tropic of any other arbitrary name below it.
That said, one can state with near-certainty that the South Pole is below the Tropic of Cairo
Determined, Jonesing Commentor
And the assumption that something worse than Cairo is below the Tropic of Cairo is discriminatory towards the Southern hemisphere
The Tropic of Ichiro could easily be below the Tropic of Cairo as well
Determined, Jonesing Commentor
I can't believe you have made it into the best 10% of commenters on the site
But kudos!
by Jeff Sullivan on Jun 10, 2010 9:53 PM PDT up reply actions
I guess this one is just over my head because I have absolutely no idea what you mean
Determined, Jonesing Commentor
I'm a geography major and obsessive
And the word “tropic” is being misused on this blog- especially the notion that being below a tropic is somehow worse than being above the tropic
Determined, Jonesing Commentor
Well now I feel stupid

In fairness that is a very abstract, although legitimate use of the term "tropic"

Funny you should mention that because he's my starting catcher on my Mariner team for MLB 2K7 on Xbox
He’s hitting like .250, but he’ll go 0 for 21 then get on ass crazy 8 for 10 streaks over 2 or 3 games. This is what my life has become- playing MLB 2K7 at night instead of watching the Mariners play. And in my fantasy land Rene Rivera is a better catcher than anyone the Mariners currently have.
The Sea of Sexson?
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?

I find this interesting.
Marcus Thames and Gary Sheffield were both on the Detroit Tigers a couple of years ago. Thames River is a river in England and Sheffield is a city in England. I know this doesn’t really relate but I had to put it somewhere.
Ron Washington believe that we're not out of the race and that we'll be heard from at some point
this season.
Fucking moron.
"The Mariners are cooked and we plan to overlook them in the future"
by Jeff Sullivan on Jun 10, 2010 10:20 PM PDT up reply actions
It's possible!
“I think this series probably put in their head that they have to worry about the wild card, not the division,” the Angels’ Orlando Cabrera said after he went 2-for-5 and scored twice. “[We’re] just leaving no doubt we’re a better team at this moment.”
“With them on the road and us at home, we’re looking pretty good right now,” said Weaver (10-6), who allowed seven hits, all singles, in eight innings while walking none and striking out five.
Maybe he was misquoted;
We do have a lot of race on our team.
News from Tacoma:
- Jack Wilson was 1-for-2 with a HOME RUN. Try not playing that, Wak.
- Adam Moore was 1-for-2 with hey no passed balls.
It’s a shame I don’t even feel up to ironically shouting “PLAYOFFS!” anymore.

I mean some really dark shit must have gone down.

It was only mandatory for the minor leaguers, and optional for the major leaguers, most of whom said “this is weird, fuck it, I’ll do what I’ve always done.”
