A Note To New And Old Posters
This is a warning. Don't come crying to me if you are issued a warning. We give out warnings pretty often when we see people doing things we don't like. The warning will include a message telling you why you got warned. Heed the message, click 'OK', and proceed. Don't be offended. Warnings aren't intended to be harsh. Just take the message to heart.
This is a ban message. Don't come crying to me if you get banned. If you get banned, it means that you are a bad poster, and that we've determined you will be of no value to the website. You may appeal, and you may ask to be forgiven, and you may be unbanned, but more often than not, getting banned means you suck and we want you to go away.

Sorry.
I’m still kinda pissed about the Suppan thing.
I’ll be quiet now.
It's fine
Warnings are just notices. Bannings are when you know we hate you.

I don't know, it seems awfully harsh
to ban someone for having a bad LaHair day.

I don't want to live in a world where there is an upper limit to the amount of LaHair puns!
Hard work never killed nobody, but I won't take my chances.
Just out of curiosity.
Do either of these messages come up every time someone visits the site until they press OK or only when they try to post something?
I believe every time
I gave those message to myself, and they came up when I refreshed the page.

I got banned for 12 hours once.
Now I’m more hurt by that then I was before.
...and now I'm here
Is this in response to a recent event or just a general warning because of the general suckiness of late?
I can also say that I don’t think I’ve ever been warned, so there’s that.
Not a response to any recent events
I’ve just noticed a lot of confusion over warning messages over the past several weeks/months and thought I might as well address the difference.

Alright, just curious.
Also, aw butterscotch.

Warnings: a necessary evil.
Bannings: a necessary awesome.
Whatever you do don't hit ok.
In reality when you hit ok you are sucked into an interdimensional realm that looks like a cross between Alice and Wonderland and Tron. Don’t do it. It takes years to find your way back out.
I believe that whenever someone gets banned, they ought to get a tattoo.
That way they can show off just how tough, and how much of an O.P. (original poster), they are.
Those who were banned from LL can wear blue bandanas.
While their hated rivals, those from Halos Heaven, would wear red.
Forewarned is forearmed, so
four-warned is four-toothed?
If only I could connect this back to LaHair somehow!
"Ottawa is off limits motherfucker."
Priceless.
I don't have a solution but I admire the problem.

What's the point of banning someone?
I’ve never had the experience of being banned from any website before. Yes, I’m just THAT pleasant (or boring…). So this is more a question about any online community or forum rather than specific to LL:
It seems to me that if I decided I wanted to cause trouble and ended up getting banned before I was finished with my mayhem creation, I would just go ahead and create a new account, and then continue on my path of destruction. Am I the only person who has ever thought of this ingenious solution? What’s to stop me from doing such a thing?
They would notice the IP was the same.
Eventually it’s not worth the time and energy. Most people aren’t that immune to people’s opinions.

The sexy people know how trolls smell.
They’d find you pretty quickly.

We're keepin' a list
checkin’ it twice.
We always keep track of who’s naughty and nice.

I agree 100%.
Can the Mariners get a warning and subsequent banning for continued suckage?

Sure, you can go the Sonics route.

I was once
banned from the Adult Swim message boards for being fifteen years old and, by extension, an obnoxious little shit. It really put things in perspective—mainly that I was posting on the Adult Swim message boards and oh good god that’s pathetic.
When can I finally be unbanned from House of Sparky?

You are a conflicted man
Have you ever banned anyone for a comment you also rec’d?
by Astrobiology on Jun 10, 2010 5:15 PM PDT up reply actions
Well I feel less special
and now that I know how ruthless you really are will hold back on a follow-up pun
I'm new, can someone explain the LaHair, Ottawa, Fogel, etc. references?
I don’t really understand what all those things are. I probably wasn’t around for them. Thanks.
the Ottawa Senators are Jeff's favorite hockey team
There were far too many LaHair puns flying around for a while, and Fogel is a commentator with a…colorful history.
The LaHair pun ban started as a playful joke because I foresaw how bad they could be
it’s still a joke, but it’s still a funny joke.
