LL Meetup?
So I recently graduated and I'll be home until June 23rd and I'm tired of missing all the LL meetups that have gone on in my absence over the last four years. That said, would anyone be interested in trying to organize something in the next few weeks? I really have no preference for a specific date but I was thinking of getting a group to go to a Felix or maybe Lee start with a bar meetup in the city before and/or after the game. Let the brainstorming begin...

Just to clarify,
Dante’s at 53rd and Roosevelt?
I think it is 52nd.
But yes.
...and now I'm here
I go to Piccolo's Pizza (directly across the street) on Thursday nights for trivia.
So this is…well, kind of strange and convenient and such.
That's a fun place to go after Dantes.
...and now I'm here
I'll be back in a few days...
but probably only until early July. Looks like I’ll be heading over to England/Ireland sometime around July 8th or so.
Cliff Lee is pitching Wednesday, is he not?
I think alot of people (Kermit, melenious, probably me, others) were already planning to go this Wednesday. Maybe we could meet up at a bar/restaurant before.
I can only take in one game, but Thursday would be fine.
Cliff Lee is beautiful but he works so fast I hardly have a chance to warm up my seat, So you’re in town? I thought you were back east. Shows what I know.
My personal preference is to have a meetup at a bar, not at a game.
...and now I'm here
Oh right that. Good point and one I'm completely in agreement with
This works much better for various reasons
If people are going to the game Friday, I want to be at the afterparty. I can't make the game.

I somehow ended up with tickets for Wednesday - Saturday's games.
Just say what game(s) you’ll be making it to and I’ll buy you a drink.
What about when the Reds or Cubs are in town?
I am graduating on June 13th, so anything before then won’t work, but I was planning on going to one of the before-mentioned series. I am also down to just meeting and having a couple beers.
2010 Safeco Field Record: 0-0 ; Overall Safeco Field Record: 10-4
So it looks like I have acquired tickets to and will be attending every game this week
I’ve already got plans with a friend on Wednesday, so I vote bar meetup around 4 or 5ish before the game Thursday for anyone interested (location doesn’t matter to me, I’ve been away from Seattle for too long to know what’s good and what’s not), and then something after the game on Friday given that Mr. and Ms. Jeff will be in town.
And of course anything in the coming weeks would be cool and could be ironed out later.
Sound good?
Where will you be sitting?
I’m taking my sister to the LOLCat thing, but I’d like to stop by to say hello.
Not sure, gonna get the tickets right before the game
Facebook/text?
And I forgot it was cheezburger night… how does one get one of those bobbleheads? Just show up?
253.347.6128 if you can text me.
You have to sit in a certain section to get the cheezburger bobblehead, and they want you to purchase your tickets by a certain time tomorrow, too.
I'll see what I can do.

I usually make it to the LL/USSM things once a year,
and made it to some of the LL/L43 things when we had eight people and tickets to a Rainiers game.
I don’t think that I’ve actually done a major LL gathering since the site got big though.

It doesn't have to be for this week's meetup
but if people are into meeting somewhere north of the ship canal, Goldie’s in Wallingford was sold to new owners, completely remodeled, and just re-opened as The Iron Bull. It’s got a bunch of HDTV’s, two 80" projection screens, 21 beers on tap, and windows! (natural light being a foreign concept to the previous owners) I like occasionally catching a game at Al’s or Moon Temple, but it’s nice to have a decent sports bar in the neighborhood.
Nothing against Dante’s… actually, everything against Dante’s. I used to live a few blocks away. Unless they’ve altered the motif, it’s just a place for college kids to get extremely drunk.
I've been wondering about that remodel-- it was hard to tell if they were actually done the other day...

They put out a press release that they're open
and a few neighbors have already complained about noise… because they moved next door to a bar and somehow expected quiet weekends ;) To the bar’s credit, they’ve been immediately responsive & have even promised to shut down the outside deck a little earlier than before.
But air hockey!
And while Dante’s is one of my personal favorites, I also wouldn’t really recommend it for the simple reason that it’s an hour away from Safeco. I know the favored LL hangouts down towards Pioneer Square are Temple Billards, Collins Pub and Fuel. The Hawks Nest is also pretty decent.
Back when I was close to moving to the U district it seemed like every bus situation to SODO took approximatively an hour.
The hour bus thing out of the U-District feels pretty close to the truth.
Between late buses, full buses blowing past the stop, transfers, traffic, and trying to figure out weekend/weekday schedules there was always something.
Alright time is still 4:30
But Robert is in charge of pre-game location on Thursday.
Considering that I am iffy for Thursday I will assume that this will go well.
Let me suggest that you take a look at the following post to get a better idea of the Seattle Bar Scene:
http://www.lookoutlanding.com/2009/1/12/719037/two-recaps-for-the-price-o
Bars close to Safeco are useful if you are going to the game.
But I think a few of us at least are planning on hanging out at the bar itself, in which case any bar downtown would be awful (no parking, etc.).
Thoughts by anyone?
...and now I'm here
If we are not going to the game (or if some of us aren't), I am all for Goldies. Didn't even know it remodeled.
There would be parking everywhere and it’s got (or at least, it had) a very large amount of space.
...and now I'm here
Are people going to Dante's at 4:30 first and then Goldies, or is it going to be Goldies all the way?
I don’t think I could make it to Dante’s since I get off work at 4:30 in Issaquah, but would like to meet up to watch the game with the group if that’s happening.
by seattle_since_81 on Jun 1, 2010 5:50 PM PDT up reply actions
I can't speak for everyone.
But I am game meeting at Dantes, watching the game there, and then deciding to leave later if Dantes is lame. The two are not that far apart.
...and now I'm here
We're talking about Thursday here, right? I'm getting confused.
Bar only for me as well, and might hit the refurbished and freshly painted Goldies regardless just because I like new things. Probably won’t be able to make 4:30, hopefully 5-ish
Yes, I'm talking about Thursday.
I was getting confused, too, so I was hoping to clear up some of the confusion. I hope someone brings a laptop because it’s lolcat night, and I don’t want to miss Scruffy’s .gif bombing.

Absolutely.
Dantes, Thursday, 4:30pm to whenever. Many of us (you, me, anyone else) will watch the game AT the bar after the people that are going to the game leave. At least that’s my plan.
...and now I'm here
I have no tickets, and so was thinking of maybe finding the friday post-game fun instead
but now it looks like I will be enjoying the lilting strains of Marvin Hamlisch conducting the Pops in an hour-long version of The Music man.
No beer there.
wait what
Marvin Hamlisch
a) is still alive?
b) is the conductor of SSO?
wow. For some reason I thought he was long dead. I guess because my dad liked him and that was a long time ago.

So it looks like tommorrow's pregame meetup is most likely not happening.
That being said, I should at the bullpen by 6:50 when Criff starts to warm up, so feel free to say hello (or not).
Melenious supports me whooping your rec ass.

No no no no, you're definitely on my side.

So has anything been set for Friday post-game yet?
Because I may be able to do that. Only possibility of going to a game this week is on Wednesday, which may or may not happen anyway

Hi guys... maybe not the right place for it
but I noticed some of you said you were going to Thursday’s game. Can I offer to buy the bobblehead off of you? Or if anybody’s not going and would go for it I’d reimburse you? :)
(I also posted in the LOLcats thread but it seemed pretty quiet, and this one seemed busier.)

To get the bobblehead, you have to purchase a specific ticket.
It’s not a general giveaway, and quantities are very limited. I’d imagine the people who buy the special tickets and go early to get the bobblehead won’t want to part with it.

Yeah, it's not officially sponsored by the Mariners
The chzbrgur people just bought a bunch of seats in a section or two and the M’s let them promo their thing on the Mariners’ site, but it’s not like a typical bobblehead night.

Cool. I know we've done it twice now but I'm going to step out for the night and won't have a chance to check back in.
So tomorrow (Thursday), meet at Dantes around 4:30 or 5ish, then some people will leave for the game while the cooler people rest of us watch the game on TV and make fun of all you losers see if we catch you guys on television. Sounds good. What/who should I look for?
...and now I'm here
I'll be at Dante's around 5 or 5:30 depending on traffic.

But LL Season Tickets (Felix is Ours 2010) has 2 seats available for tomorrow’s game.
So if you want to be uncool and go to the game, let me know! E-mail felixisours2010[at]gmail[dot]com. Asking price as stated in our earlier fanpost is $20 per seat.
We haven’t got much interest out of you guys who said you wanted to come to games, so here’s your chance to prove me wrong :(

So what would people recommend as far as parking goes?
Most of my experience in that neighbourhood is derived from attempting to get in and out of Scarecrow in a half hour.

There were seven of us.
Fett, Decatur, seattle_since_81, CapSea, Kermit, me, and a special appearance by Matthew around the fifth inning or so after Fett and Decatur went to the game.
Good times were had. Beers were drank. Kermit’s diving anecdotes were shared.

Doing the "get to know you" part was really interesting
It constantly amazes me, the varied backgrounds of all the people I’ve met from LL.
I definitely know more about Arabic and where to learn it than I did before.

I fully intend on attending the next meetup! And I will bring Griffin, whether he wants to or not.
Say, when is the next meetup? Assuming that it is at a location where people under the age of 18 (such as the two of us) are allowed.

I was thinking about it, but I ended up going to the game at the last minute. Looks like you all had an awesome time regardless.
So since this week was successful, anyone want to meet up during the Reds or Cubs series?
