Hannahan activated and demoted?
If you scroll down to April 30th, it says the Mariners activated Jack Hannahan from the DL and then put him back in Tacoma. Normally, Yahoo!'s transactions page is incredibly accurate, but nobody picked up on this development anywhere, so I don't know whether or not to believe it. Does the community have any thoughts on whether this actually happened, and if so, why it happened?

This is nothing to spend that much time on.
Hannahan didn’t get that many at-bats in spring training, so the idea was that they would send him down to Tacoma for a few to get him all prepped and ready. At the same time, since he was recovering from the groin injury, they wanted to make sure that he could still play his positions easily, though they’ve not yet managed to get him on the middle infield.
Basically, the reason the move was made was because a player can only be on a rehab stint for a certain number of games before they either need to go back on the DL or be optioned. Hannahan had passed that limit, but wasn’t ready yet, so the M’s optioned him. A similar thing happened with RR-S last season.

Thanks, Jay. I just didn't know what was going on because nobody had explained it.
It just seemed a little weird when out of context.
I'd sleep at the Internet, but I've found servers don't make for good pillows.

No problem.
Option and rehab restrictions aren’t exactly the most well-known rules in baseball.

I mentioned it in a comment thread, I think....
His DL stint was over and if they wanted to activate him, they’d have had to send someone down. And there wasn’t an obvious candidate, esp. as Hannahan still hasn’t played SS. So it made some sense, but it just got completely lost because of the Cliff Lee activation and Shawn Kelley demotion.
