That was not a sharp inning from RRS by any means...
…but all 4 of those runs are on Ichiro.
I agree. RRS can't be hitting and walking guys, but that inning is over at 5-1, if Ichiro
judges that ball properly
The wind is raising hell for all outfielders today.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Yeah, but he gave up on that ball. Figgins had not shot. I would have liked to have seen him just
sprint and see if he could get near it, as opposed to just jogging and starting at Figgins
Ichiro should have caught that ball. End of story.
We all love him, but that was inexcusable for a 9 time all-star.
Not inexcusable for a good chunk of MLB outfielders, but for Ichiro...
…it’s inexcusable.
For some reason it's hard to take you seriously with that username.

Let's say Lopez didn't get to a routine popup...
It would be: OMG I HATE LOAFIE…FUCK YOU FATASS!
But when Ichiro doesn’t do something right you would never know unless you were watching the game. He should have caught that. I don’t know how you
No, it's because it was an in between play.
I’m guessing that Figgins called for it and Ichiro didn’t want to run into him. Also the wind has been a bitch all day.
by Mariner John on Apr 28, 2010 1:12 PM PDT up reply actions
Lets say Lopez didn't get to a Popup right inbetween him and Milton Bradley.
It would be, “DAMN. The royals are playing Angels baseball.”
50!
It's certainly not pessimism. Or negative. Or profane.
As close as you can get to optimism when something doesn’t go the Mariners’ way.
I am 100% sure that there would be cries of, "DAMN, FUCKING ANGELS BASEBALL."
Or “FUCKING BLOOPERS FUCK!” If it was right between them, as the Ichiro Chone one was, only the people who had an axe to grind against Lopez would be whining.
50!
Does RRS have options left?

This feels like the type of team that has to almost never lose when they score 5 runs, since they're so based on run prevention.
Games like this, whether we win or lose, are just extra annoying.

'If Milton has to, he's gonna run over Kendall. Or certainly try to'.
I want this to happen so much.
Just reminded me
Sheffield broke for the plate and first baseman Kevin Young threw home, where Kendall tagged out Sheffield cleanly but solidly as he came in standing up. Kendall objected to Sheffield knocking off the catcher’s helmet while getting tagged out at home. Kendall used what umpire Jerry Crawford termed “baseball words,” and Sheffield reacted violently.
The two players began to tangle and the benches and bullpens emptied.
“He came by and slapped me in the head and knocked my helmet off,” Kendall said. “I mean, if you’re going to run me over, then run me over and I’ll tip my cap to you. But he slapped me in the head and I thought it was a weak play. A couple of words were said and that was it.”
Sheffields forearms might be bigger than Kendall's neck.
That would have been fun to watch.
That'll do Rob. That'll do.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?

Mariner fan dread, exhibit #264
Rob Johnson hits a long fly ball to left with less than two outs and Milton Bradley at third. Mariners fan dreads this situation because clearly Bradley will blow out something in his knee and flop to the ground making it a double play and ending the inning.

"Ballet!.... Jack Wilson high in the air!... what a tutu he was wearing!"
That was a great call by Dave

It's a negative play
Particularly with a high OBP player batting.

Seems like Chone has been at least showing bunt every AB.
Except when I thought he should have been.
Question:
I’m keeping track of the game on Game Day and I just discovered that each pitch has a release speed and a result speed. Lowe losses some where between 8-10 MPH on his fastball for each pitch. If Lowe were throwing a really good change would the release be in the upper 90’s and the result be in the low 80’s? Or am I just retarded and should ignore the two numbers?
Fuck the Angels
In pitchfx, they measure velocity near release (a standard spot like 51' from the plate) and near the plate.
A pitched ball slows down considerably between the hand and the plate, and that’s what you’re seeing – both numbers.
In general, any velocity reading isn’t taken where the ball crosses the plate, but when it’s released, so the upper 90s numbers are what you’re used to.
Seriously.
I’ve had to watch this game in class.
My students are being quiet, because they know I'm engrossed in something over at my desk
and they don’t want me to pay attention to them.
I'm watching at work

So badly want Milton to hit a HR here.
Just so I can see the reaction as he touches home plate.

Unacceptable.
Sweeney may be hitting the ball more solid when he does but I’d still rather have Griffey.
Because there's not a solution where neither one of them plays

They do.
We just have nothing else of worth.
This is such an ill-informed statement

Who do we currently have sitting in the dugout that could do any better?
Don’t say Byrnes or Tui. Cause they cannot.
Sure, maybe they can meet us back in Seattle.
But that would not help today.
What is our record on one-run games this season again?
I would like to thank the wolves that raised Eric Brynes ...

Let’s get the first one.

David Aardsma is pitching in a one-run game. The wind is blowing out to left.

Sorry if this was covered already but
Do you guys remember when Rizzs used to refer to Willie as “Boom boom” Bloomquist because he accidently hit a home run at some point. Talk about one of the least fitting nick names.
Nope, doesn't sound familiar.

There are many, many reasons we didn't re-sign Willie
Mostly because he’s not a good baseball player.
But his avg/slg ratio made him such a novel curiosity.

I'm sad I missed 2/3 of the game.
Made me less emotionally invested in the game. Why are they having a day game in KC on a Wednesday anyway? This is the least amount of a game I’ve watched all year.
