OT: The wonders of the DVD (April 24)

The relative cheapness of the DVD has brought us many fine timewasters over the last few years, including the chance to (re)watch some of the more eccentric tv efforts of the last 40 years.

For instance, Kolchak: the night stalker, the series based on the swell tv movies The Night stalker and The Night strangler (The Night strangler by the way is set in Seattle, with action in Underground Seattle). The series is a goofy precursor to The X-files, airing in 1974, starring the always great Darren McGavin as the intrepid reporter, Simon Oakland as his editor, some of the best character actors in the business, and some fine 1970s TV atmosphere-- just watch the way the Chicago PD sprays neighborhoods with gunfire in an attempt to kill "The Ripper"...

We've mentioned The adventures of Brisco County, Jr in other threads, the Bruce Campbell western/scifi show, starring Bruce, Julius Carry, Christian Clemenson and Comet The Wonder Horse with John Astin, Kelly Rutherford, John Pyper-Ferguson, and Billy Drago in recurring roles. Brisco County Jr. is hunting the gang who killed the legendary lawman Brisco County Sr., and all mixed up in it is a mysterious orb with supernatural powers. There is also the undeniably odd Jack of all trades with Bruce as a 19th century spy in the South Pacific (pirates!)

Any other suggestions?
