AHHAHAHAHAHA FUCK YOU ADAM JONES
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Hmm. Dave Trembely sez it is all Rickey Henderson's fault.
Jones entered Wednesday night 6-for-27 (.222) on the current road trip and 0-for-8 in the series against the Seattle Mariners, his old team, his average dropping to .215.
“He’s swinging at way too many bad pitches,” Trembley said of Jones. “I probably did him a disservice by introducing him to Rickey Henderson the other day in Oakland. I told Rickey Henderson, ‘I’d like Jones to impersonate Rickey Henderson a few times and get us on the board with a leadoff homer.’ Rickey Henderson is the best in the world at doing that, and I think Jones is thinking that he’s got to do that. He’s a great kid. If they throw him a strike, he’ll do what he can do with it. But you can’t do that if you’re swinging at pitches in the dirt or over your head.”
Great coaching.
Tell him to swing for the fences every time. Great move dipshit.
Everything is Rob Johnson's fault.
by the other side on Apr 21, 2010 8:43 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah, let's make him impersonate a guy with one of the most unique skillsets in history.
What could possibly go wrong?
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Trembley before the game
"It’s time to dial it up and get this thing going in a positive direction and quit accepting it and saying ’it’s ok’ because it’s not ok," he said. "It’s not ok at all. I’m tired of covering for people. I’m not going to cover for them anymore."
"I’ve been in a position where I’m a really nice fella and I’ll cover and I’ll get questions point blank and I feel like I’m a damn presidential press secretary sometimes instead of telling it what is it, I have to smooth it over," he said. "I’m not smoothing it over anymore. Everybody here is intuitive enough. I love the players. There are people that want to see them fail. I’m not one of them. I don’t want to see them fail. I want to see the Baltimore Orioles succeed. I know the odds are against us but I think we can do it. I think we can do it. That’s how I feel."
Saw that quote in the Times article
Rizzs said something about him calling out the pitchers using expletives. Happen to have an uncensored quote handy?
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
Remember when Squinty McClusterfuck went on that scripted tirade?
That was adorable.
"We need to buckle down" was my favorite part about that.
It was the classic “my job is already gone and I’m just trying to save face” meltdown.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
I feel guilty about it
But I get a sick sense of satisfaction from knowing that it may have been a recent loss to the M’s that caused a manager of a struggling team to finally crack.
Rickey Henderson also drew a shit-ton of walks.
Which he did by having a tiny strike zone and being selective as fuck. Yes, let’s take from that “try to hit more homeruns”. I’m starting to see why O’s fans hate the guy.
by Johnny Slick on Apr 21, 2010 8:45 PM PDT up reply actions
more from the Sun article
Jones acknowledged that he has been trying too hard to make up the offense lost with leadoff man Brian Roberts on the disabled list.
“Maybe, sometimes, I’m in my own head,” Jones said. “I might be trying too hard. I’m just trying to do too much instead of just having a simple approach. [Nick Markakis] is the same way. Me and him talked about it today, and we are trying to do too much, just really trying to pick up the slack. We just need to go back to the simple approach that got us here. We just need base hits. I think some guys are trying to get the big hit rather than just a hit.”

Stats are not a euphemism for tits
It might be the game that shakes his confidence
leading to a free fall in his career which causes him to wash out of baseball and become a homeless person and we all have to sit and wonder what might have been with such a excellent young player with seemingly endless potential never fulfilling that dream. If it makes you feel any better, there are a disturbing number of comments in the mod queue at USSM right now that I just can't bring myself to sift through
It’s not just LL.
We have lots of awesome regulars that make it feel worthwhile, basically.
And actually, the regulars do help, some. Not quite as, uh, aggressively as here. But people like joser and msb are worth their weight in gold.
Anyway, don’t want to turn this into too much about USSM, but I wanted to see if I could make Matthew feel a bit better.
I like to think that we can shape people into solid contributors without resorting to hostility and bans

A's broadcast is flipping the fuck out over the fact that Jeter very obviously went around for strike 3 on back to back pitches, but neither were called.
The 2nd lead to a walk,
FUCK ERIC BYRNES FUCK ERIC BYRNES!
I don't get why they're still playing.
Does Rivera still actually have to pitch?
Everything is Rob Johnson's fault.

The Tigers have a guy named Don.
I didn’t know there were people under 45 named Don.
Miguel Cabrera owed us that one.

I learn something new every time I type in a strange phrase on GIS.
Is that the light at the end of the tunnel, or the headlights of an oncoming train?
I googled 'K9' (Doctor Who's robot dog) a few days ago
Pretty sure a few of the things I saw were illegal.
As long as the Angels continue
To try and close out games with Brian Fuentes and Fernando Rodney, I will be content

I kind of want him to keep his job, but at the same time be terrible
so his option vests
2 OUTS TILL FIRST PLACE!!!!!

I'm massively annoyed at seeing San Diego's and San Francisco's logos next to one another

This is not the ideal time for Rivera to start showing his age.

I live in Atlanta.
Yet don’t care about the Hawks.
Although, Braves playing the Phillies.
So technically not an off day for me.
I think he meant Seahawks.
And was referring to the draft tomorrow. Maybe?

First time abbreviating "Seahawks" has backfired.

I regret saying one of my complaints about LL was people can be hard on the newbies.
The Mods’ patience must be worn out by now.
You got slurved!
Jeff showed remarkable patience in the 9-7 Chart thread.

Well its about time to be hitting the old sleepy time
Stay classy, LL.
Angels lose. First place in late April, minus Cliff Lee, with the White Sox and Royals coming up
How fucking sweet is that?
Beautiful
Only 53 more Games Finished until Fuentes option kicks in. Oh, how I wish Matt Capps were a free agent next year so the Angels could make the same mistake every off season!
