Silva strong again; up to 8 K's and 0 BB's through 13 innings
I'll resist the easy National League joke and say simply that it's nice to see that Silva has accepted his demotion with grace. Note that his start today is against the Astros, who are extra bad. The PITCHfx info does show some different movement with his slider and change.

I hope Silva regresses to the mean soon.
Any success he had will just cause the casual fans to cry about how we traded him for Bradley and we know that Milton doesn’t deserve that.

*Ugh, he *has.

There is absolutely no way the casual fan in Seattle ever cries about losing Carlos Silva

Trust me, there'll be someone who'll complain about the trade on Baker's blog.
There always is. Especially if Bradley doesn’t hit like .300/.380/.520.

And there are people who deny that the Holocaust ever happened
There are idiots. Lots of them. And they’re like everywhere

Just saying that the longer he does well and if Bradley starts to struggle
there’ll be a lot more people (yes, they’re idiots) who will complain that we could have had Silva in our rotation.

There might be those drips who resent the trade when/IF he has a strong season.
But no one actually was opposed to the trade whose opinion is of actual value.
Still at war with Fred Peete
This is a pretty big stretch though.
Our back-end starters would have to suck pretty bad to cause enough people to even entertain this thought.
Maybe this month, but not over the summer.
Just look at Silva’s April stats. They’re awesome, but he always falls off a clif. Bradley starts slow sometimes too.

I don't care about those idiots
But I would like for Cubs fans to stop rejoicing about how wonderful it was that they managed to lose Bradley and get something of value in return. That’s OUR line, dammit.
Both his & Bradley's BABIP are below their career norms
There’s a lot of luck in these samples so far. We’ll see how things stand at midseason.

How the hell does Silva run that far with out passing out?
Right now I'm dreaming of Carl Crawford. Maybe next year...(or this year at the trade deadline)...
It's amazing right? He's such a tub of lard that it shocks me he can even get out of bed in the morning.
But he makes it through the Seaworld routines, right? I know they feed him mackerel, but c’mon, those shows are still taxing. I guess he gets his stamina from making all those trips to the vending machine. And there must be SOME exercise value in having to button his uniform (on account of the rotundness). Plus he probably has extra energy from all the blubber reserves he stores up in preparation for hibernation. You know, because he’s a fatass.

Perhaps we ought to stop making jokes about his size
seeing as he’s not that fat, the jokes are too easy and all of them are very, very old. What do you say? Oh, I see, you’ve already said it.

Where's that recent graph of fan heckling vs. time?
Because that’s kinda how I am with the Carlos Silva fat jokes.
"We're pilgrims in an unholy land..."
There are not many jokes that remain funny through endless repetition
NOTE TO ALL: please do not take that comment as an attempt to find one that is still funny.
Next up for him are the Mets and Nationals
Mid-May he has FLA and either COL or PHI, those should be the real litmus tests.
Still at war with Fred Peete
Not so much litmus tests as the 'oh, so that's what he really is' realization
Regardless, Silva on the Cubs means Milton with us!
This could not have possibly ended up any better once Silva put his signature on that contract.
Whatever. Astros. He had a few nice starts in 08 as well.
Not that I’m actively rooting for him to fail, or especially hate the Cubs, but I would like to see him fail, and I do kinda hate the Cubs.

Silva could do just about anything and I would still be glad he's gone.
Hope he’s happy. Chicago has some good pizza.
Everything is Rob Johnson's fault.
Same here
It’s not like we’ll ever really have to face him or anything.

But it's not a fat joke. There is an athlete named Carlos Silva.
He was a runner who’s specialty was the 400 meter hurdle. I know it might be quite surprising to find out that there is more than one person named Carlos Silva.

It may not have meant to be a joke, but I perceive it to be one anyway.

They still have some decent hitters..
In my opinion, their top of the batting order certainly will be much more powerful than ours. I am sure Silva is getting much luck to accomplish this so far.
Yankee Hater.

Fangraphs has him at 14.1% swinging strikes .
That’s high. I’m dismissing this as small sample size rather than luck on batted ball outcomes so far. He’s also throwing his changeup far more often than he ever has before, and it has been his most valuable pitch.
As a fan of Jack Zduriencik I want Bradley to do very very well and Silva to do poorly so that the trade looks even better.
However, as someone that trys to be a “nice person”, I can’t really root against someone to fail. Expectially since that individuals failure will only mean some guy on Baker’s Blog will be wrong*.
As a fan of baseball I want to see the Cubs do well. I mean, come on, their history is like a museum of failure, why root against them?
*And by the end of the season those guys will have gone on to some other “problem” with the team ie. not enough RBIs, no visible team chemistry, lack in creative rally fries signs etc.
I'm rooting against the Cubs
Simply because I find half their fan base (and 100% of their management) to be stupid for thinking that Milton Bradley was their biggest problem and that removing him would turn the franchise around.
Oh, and because I really did not like Carlos Silva. Milton Bradley may have anger issues, but Carlos Silva was just a good-for-nothing bully for taking out his failures on Ichiro!. I find the way that the media perceives the two to be really unfair.
If people rooted against a team solely because of the presence of a portion of the fan base that's perceived to be stupid
Here’s a list of MLB teams you’d be a fan of:
1.
The Blankees?
