Opening Day meetup?

I am planning on being at the Elysian Fields across from Qwest at noon on Opening Day to get some less expensive beers in before fighting the crowds at the Safe. They have food there, and people under 21 are allowed in before 9pm (I believe, but this is definitely something I will be checking on for sure), and I have the day off, so why the hell not? Just wondering how many people are going to Opening Day, and how many of you might be interested in such a thing? Hmmmm?

EDIT: Yes, I am thinking about it this early. I know maybe a lot of people aren't sure if they can go, but I wanted to toss the idea out there, just in case.

It's ok, my "it's early" excuse never fails me..

I almost hit a chick walking in a parking leaving the gym the other day, rolled my window down, said “Sorry! It’s early…” and she smiled and said it was her fault.

Never fails.

HA!

Wow. That’s actually impressive!

This is the first opening day in a while that I'm going to miss.

I regret that I won’t be able to run into any of you. Especially you, Section331, since I only realized stumbled across your Twitter account and realized based on your picture that I’ve seen you at a lot of Mariner functions already.

I vaguely remember her mentioning it

But never heard anything after. I’m pretty set on the Elysian, but am up for other shennanigans as well if necessary…

So where is this going to happen?

I would very much like to coordinate both if at all possible. If you have details, I can post them on the blog? Would love to rally some folks for it….

by section331 on Mar 7, 2010 3:52 PM PST up reply actions

It's going to go from Occidental Park to Safeco.

Yeah, we can definitely try to coordinate both. It’ll be at noon (like your meetup), so I will meet up with you afterwards. Probably closer to one. Will for sure give you details for the blog. I’d like to make a phone call and verify my permit for the thing first, before doing it. Will let you know.

I think I may be trying to cram too much fun into one day, but for sure let me know. :D

people were drinking around us but we did not drink so i guess it could have been called that.

It's not a ticketed area

You just buy a cheap ticket and stand down there, instead of sitting in your seats. They don’t actually sell tickets for that area specifically. But it sounds like that’s the area you’re referring to.

yes that sounds right.

i personally like the outfield view. i can see all of the action better imo.

I like it sometimes

But I feel farther away from the action in general. Also, the drunks down there get annoying real fast – even when I’m one of them.

i find drunks funny but the mariners were winning that day so they were happy drunks.

i guess if they were losing it might not be as much fun. lol.

Just an FYI

You may want to read/skim the commenting guidelines (part 2, and part 3) for LL. Short version is: do your best to use proper capitalization, grammar, etc., and refrain from chatspeak like LOL, +1, etc.

I know I’ve seen you over at OBNUG and they try to keep it more formal around here. With the added advantage that no one gives a shit if you fucking swear to heart’s content!

Taking the whole day off is a great idea

as is drinking at noon. I can probably swing it.

I just need to call them and confirm

That folks under 21 can be let in, will nail down everything after I get the hell out of school here in a few weeks.

Under 21 just can't be in the bar area.

So you can’t get happy hour specials (which don’t apply for this anyway) and you’ll have to snag a couple tables in the restaurant part.
They might want you to buy food and they likely won’t do separate checks. Be prepared.

Are you on their mailing list?

They’ll open regular season tickets to mailing list people two days before the public. Deadline for that has passed, but if you need help with that one, let me know. :D

Me too..

I was all signed up and ready to go, then my buddy ended up buying a 6 game pack, so now we don’t have to worry about it.

I would just about put money on it being some sort of incarnation of “Believe Big” as last year it was “new day”

I have a pair of opening day tix (sec. 120) for sale, due to a purchasing misunderstanding

(in fact I have 6 pairs of field level seats for sale if anyone is interested)

Season Ticket holders' Opening Day seats

I bought a 16-game plan and added two OD seats. My Ticketmaster account shows the seats. I’ve gotten my 16-game plan tickets, but not the OD seats. Any other season ticket holders get their OD seat tickets yet? I’m getting concerned.

by short on Mar 9, 2010 3:34 PM PST up reply actions

I don't order through Ticketmaster

So not really sure what you’re seeing. Was told that the OD tix were on their way, and if they weren’t here by April to call and get it straightened out.

~I once gave Jose Canseco $15. ~

by section331 on Mar 9, 2010 4:14 PM PST up reply actions

It's the "my account" site

It’s just the site the M’s web page links to for managing your tickets. I think it’s run by Ticketmaster but I could be mistaken. It should be the same for any season ticket holder so your info is likely correct. Thanks!

by short on Mar 9, 2010 4:29 PM PST up reply actions

I'm no authority. haha!

I would advise, however, that if they’re not in your hands by April, give the stadium a call – the season tickets are coming from a printer, but the OD tickets should be coming directly from the SafeCo office. That much I know for sure.

I will be at the game and I am bringing the sign, but no Elysian for me.

I will most likely be at Temple Billiards as always when they open up at 11am.

While I'd love to meet as many people as possible

I totally love that everyone has their various pre-game rituals. We’ll be somewhere in the upper deck during the game (not sure where yet, still waiting for tickets to show up), we’ll keep an eye out for that sign. :)

Depends on whether I can afford to use the vacation/personal time to take off the whole day as opposed to just the afternoon. But yeah, I totally enjoy drinking at socially unacceptable times of the day!

My problem with drinking in the morning is that I don't normally stop till I would anyway

So when I started drinking at 9AM for the Sounders game in Houston last November I didn’t stop till 11PM that night which lead to bad news bears for me the next day.

by Robert on Mar 10, 2010 9:40 AM PST up reply actions

I found those early Sounders games

To present much the same problem. Yikes. And the barkeeps at Fuel do not mess around…
