Mike Carp optioned to Tacoma
Someone cares, certainly, but no one should be surprised in this.
More cuts probably on the way after we get done with the last split-squad game of the Cactus League season.

Carp's power
Listening to the LL podcast in which it was pointed out that power often develops last in a player, I wonder if anyone thinks Carp could add some power as he matures. He’ll only be 24 this June and guys do tend to fill out some in years 25-7.
They rarely get prettier, though, so Carp’s kind of stuck there.
Eh.
I don’t really see Carp as being a starter on a good, playoff-caliber team, and I don’t know that the M’s do either, but he’s got the rest of the bat skills going for him, so he could learn to hit with more authority in the future.

And that's my point
Carp looks like a good hitter in other ways, so if his power develops… I just see people giving up on a guy that might play as a decent major leaguer if he can slug better. Or maybe he just looks like a decent player compared to the guys we’ve had playing 1B the last few years.
Or the fact that we haven't had a viable first base prospect since Tino Martinez*.
*Fuck Bryan LaHair and his inconsistencies.
