Looking for Help to Upload Photos
Hey Guys,
Sorry in advance for this novice question. How do you upload personal photos onto this site? As you know, it asks for a URL, but as far as I know I do not have a URL link to the photos.
I was recently at the Mariners vs. Diamondbacks game in Tucson, where Cliff Lee was thrown out. I would like to share some of those pictures from the game.
Thank you for your time,
Bryce

Do you have a Flickr account?
You can post them there and link them here. That’s what I do.
Flickr, PhotoBucket, Picasa… Lots of sites out there that allow you to post and share photos.

Only moderators can upload photos directly onto SBNation blogs. So follow Paul's advice.
Also, live off-topic threads are excellent places to ask quick questions like this. People usually leave them open while they’re working on other stuff, so you can get answers pretty quickly.
Here’s the instructions on posting pictures and links, too.
Thank You
Thank you both the help, much appreciated.

Just as a note
Technically, Flickr prohibits linking directly to an image. Their TOS demand that you link to their page containing the photo (ie to an .htm not the .jpg), which doesn’t work if you want to “inline” a photo in a post here. However, they nevertheless do make it easy for you to link to the pictures directly (they even provide an easy-to-copy static URL) and I’ve never had a problem linking directly to pictures in my Flickr account. So I don’t know how much they care (or how much you worry about violating such things) but it’s an FYI. Who knows, as Yahoo (owner of Flickr) goes down the tubes they might suddenly start enforcing it by eliminating the static URLs and all your existing links would break.
Many other sites, like photobucket and shutterfly, AFAIK have no such requirement in their TOS.
Sure...
But when you post a Flickr URL here, I believe the file is copied to SBN’s servers from that URL. That doesn’t violate Flickr’s TOS. But if it’s not your picture, of course, it could potentially violate the photographer’s copyright.

Not in comments. In posts themselves, yes.

Right.
So I use the full blown code from Box 1 on the photo download page. This includes the < a > tag and the < img > tag code with everything… Works fine here on SBN.

Create a FanShot.
The first photo will be uploaded onto SBN. Then you can link to the other photos down in the comment section. A FanShot will allow you to have your own gallery for people to see and write comments about.
The most user friendly site for
uploading a photo is probably imgur.com. You don’t even have to create any kind of account.
