PrintSo I am quite late in reading my trusty Sunday Washington Post, but I was shocked to find this story in the sports section. In case you don't want to read, it's a story about how Jim Riggleman has hired John McLaren as his bench coach, just as John McLaren did to Riggleman 2 years ago. As if the vortex of Bavasi-era suck wasn't enough, the picture (not included online, sadly) that accompanies the article is captioned as such: "Nationals Manager Jim Riggleman, left, and John McLaren congratulate Mike Morse following a two-run homer earlier this spring."
Read that again: Riggleman and McLaren, celebrating Mike Morse spring success. It gave me a bit of a terror.
As if the Nats didn't have it bad enough, they're just taking the parts of shitty Ms teams that KC doesn't want. Poor Strasburg.

Other than:
McLaren recently finished his recovery from rotator cuff surgery, the result of countless batting practice throws.
I found that pretty funny for some reason.
McLaren might have been an idiot, but I respect the hell out of Jim Riggelman.

As much as I make fun of him, I have to agree
He did a hell of a job putting up with the toxic shit pile that was the ’08 team, and he seems to have done as well as he can for the Nats. I really hope he does well out here.

I liked Riggs
He was given a giant plate of bullshit to deal with, and he did the best he could with what he was given. Not his fault what he was given sucked.
