I love Johjima!
Kenji Johjima is comfortable back home in Japan - by Brad Lefton
"Cliff Lee and Chone Figgins?" [Johjima] asked with surprised delight. "Wow, the Mariners really made some bold moves. I'll bet everyone in Seattle is pumped up for the season."
-------
"Seattle will always have a place in my heart," he said. "When I'm finished with baseball, I'd like to go back to Safeco Field and enjoy a game just sitting in the stands drinking a beer. It was a great place and that's a nice dream."
Really good article. I miss him already.

I never understood the Kenji hate.
He was a damned fine player for two years and a decent one for two more. The extension wasn’t his fault, and his moving to Japan was one of the classiest things I’ve ever seen a professional athlete do.

I think whatever ill will there was towards him for his contract has completely disappeared after his classy exit from the team, and comments like the one made in this interview.

Yep. I hated Bavasi more for the stupid contract, but I still hated Kenji a little bit for sucking afterwards. Not anymore.
Him absolving us of that contract should give him partial credit for everything that has gone on this offseason in my opinion.
FUCK ERIC BYRNES FUCK ERIC BYRNES!
Yup. There's no reason to hate Kenji himself. All he did was put up two of the best years a catcher has ever had for us.
Then get benched in favor of the worst catcher I’ve ever seen. Not really anything to blame the guy for.

Fuck I'd want out if I got benched in favor of Rob Johnson too

I think he'd find no end of people
In the stands willing to buy him that beer, whenever he comes back to watch a game.
