He costs money we don't have much of, he's not all that good, and he basically dooms Adam Moore.
Since we aren’t competing next year anyway without serious divine intervention, moves that stifle upside are bad, within reason anyway.
Lots of teams look for un-terrible catchers at the break and since the Elias rankings are positional-based, maybe he can be a Type B
also, Moore has shown no development so far, so do you really want to just hand him the job?
It’s not a crippling contract and if Adam Moore suddenly turns into Adam Moore! then $3.75M for a one year of a backup catcher isn’t so awful
I forgot we give up a draft pick for this. I suddenly like this much less.

In the AAA phase of the Rule 5 Draft the Braves selected a LHP by the name of Rowdy Hardy.
Totally disappointed that that man won’t be donning a Rainiers uniform next season.
