M's sign Dominican SS Esteilon Peguero
$2.9 million. Very good bat/pitch recognition. Probably moves either to second or third long-term. This is the fourth-highest bonus on record for an int'l player, but he was also regarded by some as the top player on the market.

Whoa, that's quite a bit. Most money we've ever given to a international propsect?
Hope he doesn’t go the way of Triunfel. I guess it might be semi-interesting to see how they work out playing time for these guys, too. If Peguero jumps quickly, we’ll have Franklin, Littlewood, Noriega, and Peguero all competing for playing time at SS, though some of these guys will apparently move off the position eventually.
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE
We had two Pegueros before. This time the other one is better.

I'd like to make a joke about 'Peguero' meaning something in Spanish and the M's having two of them.
but I ran it through google translate and didn’t find anything. ;_;
M's fan in PA, soon to be LA
They don't often mean things.
Although it was fun to run LVBP news stories through translators to hear all about Kelvim Field of Broom and Asdrubal Goatherd.

Wow what a dynamite year for our international signings
Peguero to go with Philips Castillo, plus others is quite the haul.
Yeah, Torres and Calderon weren't bad either.
I’d like a little Pac Rim for variety’s sake, but what can you do?

Now I have my own write-up.
Dave seems to be doing his own thing for the USSM end of things. I’ll be interested to hear what he digs up.

Every year I watch the vids of the young international guys that are supposed to be good.
It’s impossible to judge who is going to end up really good and who is gonna be a total waste of money. However, this kid stood out to me more than the rest. I remember watching his film and thinking he looked pretty impressive. Particularly the bat speed.
Happy to add another promising player to the system.
