In case anyone is interested.
Mariners' 3B Italian prospect Alex Liddi went 1 for 4 with a Home Run in the Cardenales de Lara 1-2 loss against Navegantes del Magallanes. From what i have seen so far, he is showing a good glove on 3rd Base. With the night, he improved to .292 AVG, .382 OBP, .479 SLG with 7 RBIs, 9 Runs scored, 3 Stolen Bases, 6 2Bs and a 7/10 BB/K ratio. The shot was his first Home Run of the season in 14 games (but it’s good to point out that the LVBP is not a Home Run friendly league, at least not as the other winter leagues, the leader here have 3 HRs. Not to mention, the Lara's ballpark is the second hardest to hit homeruns by field's dimensions and Lara also played 3 games in Zulia, the hardest park by far to hit a home run).
So far in the season, in his own team Liddi is first in doubles with 6 (also first in the league), 3rd in BA, 1st on XBH (also 1st in the league), second in BBs, 1st in RBIs and 1st in Runs scored (3rd in the league).
The Liga Venezolana de Beisbol Profesional is a 63 games long competition and is one of the best two professional leagues in the Caribbean (w/ the Dominican League).
Also, Dan Cortes is playing really good as the closer. Haven't allowed a run yet in 5 innings of work (5 games), has allowed only one hit (a 2B), but still has problems with location of pitches, his K/BB ratio is just 1/1 (4 Ks and 4 BBs)
greetings from Venezuela
