Ichiro is scheduled to make $18 million a year through 2012...with $5 million a year deferred until he retires. He has been often mentioned as not being a team player and certainly is not a mentor/leader in the clubhouse. He turns 36 this week. He has mentioned the desire to play for a winner in recent times.
My question to the Lookout Landing:
Should we trade Ichiro for players/prospects in addition to trying to clear salary off the books?
Would Nintendo ownership allow Jack Z to explore trading Ichiro? Is it sacrilege to entertain the idea? What would be fair compensation for him if we did?
