10/17: Open NLCS Game 2 Thread
You look at the Phillies' top three, and you're all, wow, these guys are really good. Then you look at the Giants' top three and you're all, wow, these guys are really good too, and so is the fourth guy. Here's to a series without Bronson Arroyo.

Did we ever get an explanation why Sanchez is starting over Cain?
Did they not like his start in game 2?

I have to stream the Hawks and Sounders, so I have some links.
That is, no problem.

I'm trying to figure out which team has the most black players and I came across a fun tidbit:
MLB considers Lou Piniella “of color.” Does anybody know which team has the most brothers?
by LonelyintheBleachers on Oct 17, 2010 5:30 PM PDT reply actions
Oh?
Wikipedia, which is obviously infallible, says Piniella is Spanish, but not Hispanic. But Grady Sizemore is also listed as African American. It all gets rather confusing after a certain point.

I'm cool with Lou being spanish, but "of color?"
Maybe we should end this now.

He's a colourful character.

I'm not, I merely learned how to read/spell there.

I don't trust anything a computer says...

But MLB does watch everything we do.

Pat or Raul?
I choose The Bat. Although Raul does have a nice little piece of my heart.

Werth looks like white trash.
I bet he wears cuttoffs with no front pockets.

I already miss the TBS presentation.
I liked having their pitch-FX-like stuff in the bottom right.

I was out walking to get some dinner when it happened.
I saw the score on the restaurant TV and thought, “huh, how’d that happen?”
Cody Fucking Ross. I should have known.

It's what I love about playoff baseball.
Everyone writes up the obvious story lines ahead of time but SSS of 5 or 7 games make for surprise heroes almost every year.
You mean, what the phuck does that mean, right?
Hard work never killed nobody, but I won't take my chances.
Presumably,
it’s a portmanteau of “fun” and “thunder”, for the noise they’re making, with a Phillies spin on it ala the Phanatic.
Unless they’ve been drinking beyond reasonable capacities, and then it might be a portmanteau of “Phillies” and “chunder”.

The crowd was scared on that fly ball

I was hopeful for a second there.
Cody Ross bats right despite throwing left, and so do I, so he makes me feel less useless baseball-wise by association.

How does this happen?
Also, I love that Timmt bats lefty.

No idea.
I think it’s because when I started playing pick-up games in the neighborhood, all my friends batted RH

Maybe I should just pay the $10 for the playoff broadcast.
Cliff Lee tomorrow night and everything
Anyone here have that MLB playoff package?
How’s that working? After hearing all the complaints the last few years regarding MLB internet broadcasts, I’m hesitant to shell out for their product. But those problems may not be an issue any longer.
If you're buying it for the tv coverage be aware that they don't edit the feed.
You get to choose camera angles instead, which can make it difficult to follow if it’s the only way you’re following the game. If it’s for radio, I not familiar with any problems with it.
by drblacknwhite on Oct 17, 2010 7:35 PM PDT up reply actions
Do they have any angles that give a decent angle of the entire infield?
Pitcher/catcher, covering maybe the infield positions? Looks like you can select up to 4 different shots, but if they’re all locked onto small individual parts of the field, that might kind of be difficult to follow the action.
That comment by Goose is exactly why I shy away from their products.
To be fair, mlb.tv(sans opening day) was pretty damn good this year. I barely had any problems all season.
But still. its bullshit.
You're dead to me.
I think there's one from behind home plate that covers the infield.
But I’m not sure as I didn’t get it this year.
by drblacknwhite on Oct 17, 2010 7:45 PM PDT up reply actions
Maybe.
It’s different for each of us.

Again a manager has over managed an inning
surely letting a pitcher go a whole innings and maybe get into a groove will have somewhat better results.
Sergio Romo's chin is wearing a toupee fitted for a squirrel.
Or so gameday would lead me to believe.

This Cody Ross at-bat does not have the thrill of previous Cody Ross at-bats.
