9/4: Open Game Thread
Seattle Mariners at Oakland Athletics, Sep 4, 2009 7:05 PM PDT
Cliff Pennington, Aaron Cunningham, and Clayton Mortensen. I can't tell if that's a baseball team or a meeting at the Elks Lodge.

Pennington, Cunningham, and Mortensen.
Possible a high-end law firm that holds its holiday party at a very exclusive golf club.
Either that kid has an extra vertebrae in there or his head/face is extraordinarily small.
Proper proportions, good grief.
I can't decide whether Mortenson has a huge neck or a really small head

Me too! Get out of my head
His ears appear freakishly large, but rather in proportion to his visible shoulder/neck area, so I’m leaning towards small face, small head.
I don't get it...
How did Boston determine that Paul Byrd was a better option than Smoltz or Penny?
These games are just so fucking boring

I'm generally kidding when I don't use punctuation. It's my way of being dry.
But in this case I wasn’t. I had no idea that was the real video.

Ok,l I'm a little sleepy
So I don’t know if I’m right, but it doesn’t seem like RRS is pitching his best today. Am I on crack, or am I right?

Not throwing the ball over the plate
umpire has an interesting strike zone
He doesn't seem to be having a lot of trouble with Oakland
But he seems to be having more trouble than he should, given his recent performances…

Hmm maybe Ryan can go seven. I don't get how he's been so good with his swinging strike % still in the gutter.

Mike Sweeney was on Saturday Night Live in 1997.

Ha!
No, he had an acting part opposite Helen Hunt. I do not know what or why.

Dave N was saying how RRS can throw 115 pitches regularly. That's not true, is it?

Ichiro!!
Man, the guy is awesome. He can make it look so easy.
Countdown begins! 9 to go for 200.
Pennington made a nice play up the middle on his previous at bat
and it’s like Ichiro goes, Try to get this! And he shoots it through the hole.
Man, Ichiro rocks.
Something along the lines of
‘When I first saw him I thought he was a bit of a Judy at the plate/had a Judy arm’
Fuck Anaheim.
I know the Brewers are paying Bill Hall's salary this year, but why?
He’s been a pretty decent player for us, although I’ve never followed any national team, was he miserable as a Brewer?
RRS going strong. Nice.

He is a cool guy and he is actually able to pitch decently. Woot.

Haha!
You have a point. I was mainly talking about his pre-throwing facial ticks, but yeah; Dickey is the master.
"Let this big fucker come in and walk the world here." - Dave Niehaus on JJ Putz
It's series like this and the Royals one that I really miss R.A. Dickey
He kept things interesting, that’s for sure.
Fuck Anaheim.
I really liked him
I was probably in the minority, but I thought he was really cool. I would very much like to have him read a southern cookbook on tape.
"Let this big fucker come in and walk the world here." - Dave Niehaus on JJ Putz
I loved him
He was like the Mike Sweeney of last year’s bullpen. Only more fun in-game.
Fuck Anaheim.
Not enough hugging
But I get what you mean. I learned a lot about the knuckleball from him, which was cool. He was always willing to talk about it to the FSN crew, and whomever asked him. I love information about baseball, so he was nice to have around.
