On Ian Snell's Front Foot
Is everything fixed? Absolutely not. But this is a sign of progress. Or it's a sign of something, anyway. I have no idea if this is the key to unlocking Ian Snell, but I might as well stick to the story.
Be you warned, for here there be .gif(s).

It's funny.
It almost looks as if he wants to point his foot towards third but remembers and points his foot home at the last second.
I actually bought a Betancourt t-shirt.
P.S. Fuck the Angels!

I think that's actually the recommended way to do it

OK.
I just never payed much attention to other pitchers feet before.

Yup, storing rotational energy
release hips/foot too early and your arm lags behind your whole body as you throw

Anyone know?

A good Snell would go a looong ways toward helping the Mariners compete next season.
Lets hope he can eek out another good one before the season is up.

There is like a 3 or 4 win difference between good Snell and bad Snell

Yeah, it's also the difference between good Snell and whoever would be our #5 guy if bad Snell didn't make the rotation out of ST.
Good Snell and good Tuiasosopo puts us pretty close to being a decent team next season, possibly a contender if GMZ can work some real magic on the FA and trade fronts again.

Well if he doubles all of the talent he trades away I think we could be playoff bound
by Fogel on Sep 28, 2009 4:43 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
Well, depending on how much talent we trade away...
But I dunno, even if we only get 1.2x return on the talent we trade away he’s done a damn good job.
He was GM of the year last offseason, I don’t know if he can repeat THAT kind of success, but I have pretty high hopes.

Was he able to maintain that throughout the game?

I wasn't paying close attention and it's hard to discern precise angles from CF cam
From what I can tell, I’d go with off and on.

The straighter foot allowed him to unlock the knee as well.
Good stuff. He wasn’t perfect all game but a big improvement.

I can't tell if I'm reading too much into it or not
but that last start made me awful optimistic.

Drayer, Twitter
@LookoutLanding-Best I have seen Snell w/foot.Told me after game he can’t think about it while out there so must be more natural now 4 him

Dudes
Give it up. Snell stinks, Wilson is fragile….neither will be in the bigs more than half of next season. The Pirates rooked us!
