Injury report.
Beltre fouled a ball off his foot, out.
Sweeney fouled a ball off his foot, out.
Gutierrez fouled a ball off his foot, will play.
Ichiro fouled a ball off his shin… will play.
from the TNT:
“What manner of pitch, exactly, was it that Ichiro hurt himself on?
"Some kind of fastball," Ichiro said.
Someone mentioned that Ichiro rarely did such a thing.
"If I did it often, that would be a problem," Ichiro said.”
Come on, Ian!
Let’s fuck some shit up old school!

Purcey has the badass slightly-askew hat.
But I imagine it is due more to left-handedness, than to any innate baddassery.
That is not the expression of a badass.
Unless it’s like one of those creepy badasses, like Texas Chainsaw style, where cutting people into pieces makes them think of flowers and ponies.

Great.
Now I have to write a book in 2010.

Not ones that overlap into it?

They showed us his old baseball cards of his high leg kick and you could clearly see his bulge and how theoretically he might be able to touch it with his face
Yeah
That was somewhat alarming.

To Ed Gein
Having needles shoved up his dick was VERY exciting.

Sadness. There is no leftover chinese food for breakfast.
Which happens when you feel the need to eat the leftovers 3 hours after you ate the rest of the meal.
It seems like hotwings
Would make a nice early morning baseball breakfast.

How will they decide who loses a start so that Felix gets an extra one this year?

I know, right?
I’m still a little hazy on why he was tossed.
"Let this big fucker come in and walk the world here." - Dave Niehaus on JJ Putz
He drew a line in the dirt with his bat
That will get you ejected just about every time, it’s considered trying to show up the umpire.
You can't draw a line in the dirt with your bat as a demonstration on why the ump was wrong
I remember seeing Rickey do that, and it’s pretty much an automatic ejection.
by drblacknwhite on Sep 26, 2009 11:24 AM PDT up reply actions
He took his bat and drew a line next to the base to show where he thought the ball was.
which counts as showing up the umpire.
Of course, Runge is the ump who was suspended last year for bumping Jerry Manuel…
Thanks all
I figured it was some showing-up thing, but with Jack Wilson remaining in the game after throwing some temper tantrums at the plate, I thought that perhaps there was something else I was missing, outside of the line. So many others have protested far more violently than that and NOT been tossed.
"Let this big fucker come in and walk the world here." - Dave Niehaus on JJ Putz
I've been surprised that it hadn't happened more
not with Ichiro, necessarily, but as I understand it, the umpire in Japan is (or at least was up to a few years ago) treated with no respect whatsoever— insults, physical intimidation by players and managers …
That seems strange to me...

Things we have learned so far.
Brian Runge does not appreciate having his shortcomings pointed out to him.
Leaving many RISP is not a good idea, unless you are the pitcher.
Mark Lowe is not a 2-inning pitcher.
I am now prepared to lose this game.
And somewhat annoyed about that.
