I wonder if John Danks' teammates refer to buying weed as hanging out with John.

So now we're trading front office people with the Padres.
The Mariners just announced they have hired Jeff Kingston away from the San Diego Padres as an assistant GM to Jack Zduriencik. Kingston, 32, has spent the past nine seasons with the Padres, specializing in areas like payroll, roster, and budget management. In other words, he’ll be taking over a lot of the duties left behind by the resignation of Lee Pelakoudas a couple of weeks ago.

I hope he can get playing time at the MLB.
He will be charged with teaching and working with stephen strasburg. It will be a real life Bull Durham!

Did we get Ryan Zimmerman in return?
Because I will be disappointed if we didn’t.

Ian Desmond seems unnecessary for the Nationals.
Maybe we can get him instead.

Isn't Burke under a one year minor league contract?
by Matthew on Sep 17, 2009 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
He almost surely is.
So… what? The Nationals just gave us cash to use Jamie Burke, who we had sitting at home, for two weeks?
The Nationals…

On Jeff's extra innings scale,
this game is neither going to reach tedious nor dramatic. It just exists and will continue to exist until it ends.

Does anyone remember the pizza hut commercial at the beginning of the VHS of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles?
I used to absolutely love that commercial. It had a kid who was playing baseball, but he sucked at it… or something like that. Anyway, they stuck him in the outfield and lo and behold the ball was hit to him. As I recall, he sucked at it and missed the ball. The moral of the story though was that they all went to Pizza Hut afterward, and everything was gravy, for there was pizza.
It always warmed my heart.

YES! I totally remember that!
I still have the VHS too, but no VCR with which to play it. I think he did actually catch it though.
If I remember correctly, that commercial came on right before the f.h.e. logo for Family Home Entertainment. Or maybe right after.
Damn, totally want to find that online now.

x
Off in the distance the game’s dragging on
There’s strikes on the batter and runners are on
And suddenly everyone’s looking at me
My mind is now wondering what can it be
They point to the sky and I look up above
And a baseball falls into my glove
I play right field, it’s important to know
You gotta know how to catch, you gotta know how to throw
That’s why I play in right field way out where the dandelions grow

Apparently there was no defense played in the Mariners game.
of course, Steve Berthiume just said (of one of the webgems they did show) “Raul Ibanez is a pretty good defensive player … underrated”
