I think I was thinking of this
Settle in for the Jack Wilson era – he’s here for the next two or three years. This was not a stop-gap move, and Jack is a huge fan of what he brings to the team. There just isn’t much out there in the way of talent at SS to be had, and they thought Wilson could help them now and going forward.

They’re going to be the best team in the AL West for a while, and the only thing that can possibly stop that happening is if they go broke.

Not sure how to read this. I’m indifferent to Texas’ financial troubles, and in fact the softy in me hopes they’ll be okay. But the Machiavellian in me realizes that their financial problems redound to the benefit of the M’s in future divisional races — is that what you’re talking about?
