9/11: Open Game Thread
Seattle Mariners at Texas Rangers, Sep 11, 2009 5:05 PM PDT
You know, Neftali Feliz is amazing and I love him, but somehow despite all his strikeouts, his 77.4% contact rate ranks him between Joe Smith and Justin Miller among relievers with 20+ innings pitched. That's not what I was expecting.
Meanwhile, Michael Saunders sits again. If you aren't going to play the guy against hittable righties...

Has Wak talked about why he's sitting Saunders so much?
I haven’t even heard the “working on his swing” or “tight muscle” excuse.
Ugh. Morrow...
He’s gonna get SHELLED in Texas.
I hope not, really I do, but still. Somehow the Rainiers going to the playoffs is doing more harm than good, and unfortunately extending Miguel Batista’s Seattle Mariners career. UUUuuuuugh.

Shoulder problems maybe?
I don’t know… We seems to fuck up all our rookies somehow any way.
You got slurved!
Canadians don't celebrate September.
...and now I'm here
Fucked himself
by trying to pull everything and not taking any walks. Also had some injuries the last two years.

Holy crap but going from a 4-5 win 3B to a very sucky 1B...
Jeez talk about a collapse.
You got slurved!
His fall makes me and all Rangers fans very sad...
what was and could have been…

Why are the white guys batting 7-9
Racist bastards
It's a nice day out today
I could be playing outside.
But I’ll be watching this instead.
Blargh.

Yuck.
I just got Twittered that there may be no game tonight – more rain expected.

Yeah
I doubt that there will be baseball tonight.

Well, crap.
I’ll give it an hour before I give up. How long do they take before they call off games there with a delay?

Personally I hate the Rangers just as much as the Angels.
In particular, I am envious of their awesome young talents.
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.
Good point
The Angels are at their peak now, and they got a bunch of old guys and soon to be FAs. Only downhill for them now.
And the Rangers are indeed irritating now that they don’t suck. Fucking upstarts.
Also, I'm pretty sure you misspelled
“Rainiers”.

Fuck, I just realized that if we had swept the Angels
we would’ve been only 7 games behind. Damn.
Yes, because you would have been so close at that point.

Watch us get swept by the Rangers while you get swept by the ChiSox
2 game race, Wheeee!!
I love the interviewing of Luke French on FSN
Seems like they should talk to someone else…

The Yoyogster is at the game
Sitting in a luxury box. Looking good and eating free food. The rain is coming straight down. It doesn’t look good. The announcer just came on and said maybe 815 start. I am not optimistic on that at all. Morrow lives another day.

Fister pitching tomorrow... I plan to watch it happen in a custom made shirt (which was inspired by LL people!)
Gritty... that's the term I think of when I see Jack Wilson play. Gritty

Baker says Sean White may be back this year.
Also, no Batista for Texas because of a family matter.

Has Langerhans been injured?
Or abducted by aliens?
Somehow this is less boring than the Oakland game.

So Mike Morse had a go-ahead, pinch-hit, 2 run double today.
What a horrible trade for us.

I give up
The rain continues to come straight down at a medium pace. Also there is lightening in the area. I don’t see how they can get this one in. I am gong home.

Eh
I’ll wait until they call it, personally. I have very little else to do…

They just said possible double-header tomorrow.
Good Lord!

My prediction:
All 3 days will be rained out, forcing a 2007-Cleveland-esque situation, except hellaciously worse, since it’s already mid-September. I guess if some of those games don’t end up mattering, they probably wouldn’t replay them.
For me personally, tonight is a blessing in disguise…need to catch up on some work, so this is one less distraction.

Yeah.
I wish they’d just call it and get it over with; I’m tired of watching the FSN filler that I’ve seen a ga-jillion times already….

These red hats they're wearing in New York are ugly.
I thought it was the O’s until they switched sides, must be a 9/11 thing? But why red hats.
I was sort of ho-hum about the whole AMERICA thing really. Until today, these hats made the difference.
Throw in some bunting and a little confetti and it might be enough consider all caps.
WE'RE HERE TO SAVE, THE MOTHA FUCKIN' DAY YEAH!

Rainout, fuck
It’s not supposed to rain in Texas.

west Texas yeah but it does in north east Texas.

So apparently there is a chance that all three games will be rainouts
And according to some writers in Texas, MLB has said that the games would be made up as three straight double-headers in Seattle to end the season.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot
supposed to be a rain out tonight ehhh??
good to be an oregon duck fan then. no layover.. straight to the game!
