Erik Bedard to Undergo Surgery
Not much else is known at this point, other than that it is being called minor, but Divish is reporting it via Twitter. Anyways, yeah, any thoughts of Erik Bedard returning this season are further nailed.
More, according to Divish:
So, exploratory then. Probably necessitated by Bedard's shoulder not getting any better with rest and rehab. There is little chance that they go in and find anything that is both causing the pain and minor enough to fix and recover from before the season ends. It's not like he has a splinter stuck in there and getting rid of that will make it all go away. The surgery will inspect labrum to see level of fraying and also inspect bursa complex to see if anything is irritating it.

It's supposed to be the surprise image, I think. I'll pinch hit.

He may have a lot more free time pretty soon?
Besides, you know what goes well with rehab? Pretzels.
Because no one could've seen this one coming

Doesn't mean it's not sad.
When your puppy dies from a protracted battle with supercancer, I will pop in just to say “Well you saw it coming.”

I maintain that under that circumstance the puppy's death would come as a relief

You would still be sad.
It is possible to feel both relief and sadness at once, unless you are really some kind of poorly-programmed robot from the future sent back in time to blog about a baseball team.
I’m onto you.

Zip it.

So the book closes on Bedard as a Mariner.
164IP
2.4 WAR
Essentially he has been a very slightly above-average pitching almost a season’s worth of innings in 2 seasons and not even worth arbitration-awarded cash we paid him.
I hope Z can bring in a legit #2 starter this offseason.
If Morrow is really turning corners down in Tacoma, then we might have one already.
And honestly, I’m not too worried about having another ace outside Felix. Our league average arms have been performing well with the defense behind them. I would rather Jack find a bat at 3B and DH.
Counting on Morrow is only slighty better than counting on Bedard.
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
Morrow won't be a #2 starter next year.
And of our other pitchers, I think Snell is the only one that has a chance to be not below-average next season.
1. Felix
2. Snell
3. Morrow
4. RRS
5. French
Doesn’t exactly fill me with confidence.
He's not even close now. There are a number of pitchers with as good of stuff as Morrow in the low minors because they can't use it properly
Morrow still can’t, either.
I think you are making a harsh judgment.
He pitched a gem the other day and has had success at the major league level. He much further ahead than anyone in the low minors.
Somebody reported that they want to get Silva some September starts.
Will this really be the case if we happen to be in the race come then?
I don't even want that much from him at this point.
If we are anywhere near a playoff spot, I will lose it if I see him come into a game that we are not trailing by at least 10 runs.
I'd like us to make a run at a couple of the injury plagued/high risk type guys.
Whether it be Sheets, Bedard, Rich Harden, etc..
Maybe even grab both Bedard and Sheets and give them heavy incentive laden deals. I would expect each guy will be working with a 1 year deal given their injury issues.
My ideal rotation wouldn’t have French in it. I am okay with RRS and Snell at the back end, and of course Felix. Morrow is a wild card, and after that I’m not comfortable with any of these guys.
I hate the labrum.
I destroyed up my labrum and I was in a sling for 9 weeks. Then I had 9 months of rehab. and two years later it still hurts.
Racer X. You have to love those amarillo hops.
p.s. fuck you angels
p.p.s. why does geoff baker hate felix
Did you have surgery?
(I’m asking because both of my shoulders are shit).
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
I did and it helped.

Hmm....
Perhaps my wife is right. But it still hurts two years later?
"Fights begin, finger prints are took, days is lost, bail is made, court dates are ignored, cycle is repeated."
It's stiff and there is some pain, but not pieces of glass trapped in my shoulder pain.
On cooler mornings it’s hard to row my kayak, I’m not nearly as good at rock climbing and Mt. biking is kind of rough.

It's funny how e's and a's look so similar.
...and now I'm here
Well I guess that Bedard jersey I got was fun while it lasted.
You got slurved!
The M's are why the suicide rates are so high in the PNW and Japan.
Should have waited and bought it at a discount.

After reflection I now realize all my favorite pitchers are very injury prone.
Carpenter, Harden, Sheets, Bedard, Scherzer(well kinda injury prone).

Hmmm I wonder if I made the entire Angels rotation my favorite...
