Happy Felix Day!!!

I just noticed today

David Wright has fewer home runs than James Loney. That seems wrong.

David Wright does not like to play baseball.

You got slurved!

Hehehe Mark Reynolds is so awesome.

by Slurvey on Jul 9, 2009 6:27 PM PDT up reply actions

That should be a movie.

David Wright is a superstar baseball player. He has it all, the money, the women, the fame. But what he really wants to do is DANCE! A moving tale of self-discovery and following your dreams. Starring Zac Efron as David Wright, Chris Rock as Jose Reyes, Vin Diesel as Gary Sheffield, Sean Penn as Johan Santana, Robert Pattinson as Carlos Beltran, Sylvester Stallone as Alex Rodriguez, Madonna as herself, Neil Patrick Harris as Joba Chamberlain, and Angelina Jolie as Derek Jeter.

High risk definately. It shatters my soul when Felix gets touched up. Particularly by

division opponents. And going six games back in the loss column would be pretty bad. But I don’t see the low reward. I think we get a nice reward in the standing for each and every win this weekend.

by Rudy4three on Jul 9, 2009 6:26 PM PDT reply actions

I dunno

unless we sweep, we’re still kind of in limbo. Even 2.5 games back (if we win 3) and we’re still back to hovering behind the Angels and the Rangers.

You know, it's not like Andruw Jones peripherals were that bad in 2007

.09 IsoD, and 16.5% LDs vs a career average around 17.

It was the ridiculous .242 and terrible HR/FB that killed him, and he STILL posted a league average wOBA

by seattlebruin on Jul 9, 2009 7:30 PM PDT reply actions

WHY SO MANY FASTBALLS?

To be fair I think a few of them were changeups but Gameday says FASTBALL FASTBALL FASTBALL FASTBALL FASTBALL FASTBALL SO I AM PISSED.

So uh
Just been told by a Mariners PR staffer, who checked into the Yuniesky Betancourt situation in Tacoma tonight, that an "organizational decision’’ was behind the move to pull him from the Class AAA lineup at the last moment. No further word yet. Let the speculating begin.

by Jeff Sullivan on Jul 9, 2009 7:50 PM PDT reply actions

Want to hear something hilarious? I DIDN'T EVEN REALIZE YUNI WAS IN AAA OR ON THE DL UNTIL NOW.

I vaguely remember reading about his demotion now that I think about it, but it had actually slipped my mind for awhile. It’s amazing, it’s like the minute he was demoted my brain instantly began to furiously purge all memories of his existence from my memory.

I don't know how to stop.

by esoteric on Jul 9, 2009 7:53 PM PDT up reply actions

So for who?

Some people seem to think either Jack Wilson or Freddy Sanchez will be involved….

I’m thinking it’ll be either Chase Utley or David Wright.

I think DFA

Well this is new
Joel Hanrahan earned his first win of the year the easy way—hanging out in his hotel room.

And it was a victory that defied geography.

The Pittsburgh Pirates reliever was enjoying a day off in Philadelphia on Thursday when his former Washington Nationals teammates were finishing off a suspended game in Houston by winning 11-10 in the 11th inning and he was the winning pitcher.

by Jeff Sullivan on Jul 9, 2009 7:59 PM PDT reply actions

The Nats will take wins any way they can get them.

And that includes using players no longer the roster or even the team.

I don't know how to stop.

by esoteric on Jul 9, 2009 8:01 PM PDT up reply actions

And I'll take this completely random time to EMPHATICALLY recommend the film "The Adventurs Of Buckaroo Banzai Across The 8th Dimension"

Because I just saw it the other day and holy shit it’s the most fantastic ’80s cult film ever.

I don't know how to stop.

by esoteric on Jul 9, 2009 8:07 PM PDT up reply actions

I used to be in a fiction writing club

That centered around that movie, though everyone in it had seen it WAY more times than I had. Nothing I wrote ever got published, boo-hoo. Probably for the better, without proper back story knowledge, story continuation is useless.

Griffey hurts the team by not hustling

Joel Pineiro is my all time favorite gay athlete.

by Poochie on Jul 9, 2009 8:08 PM PDT reply actions

Sad part is that I think he was hustling there.

Wait--

So according to Gameday, Hunter throws a 91 MPH fastball, a 91MPH slider, and a 91 MPH curveball?

by Seattle Rodiners on Jul 9, 2009 8:27 PM PDT up reply actions

Well....

I think he’s not all that much different than Wilson…

Slightly better hitter….
Way worse defensively….

but I think Wilson is owed like 8 mil next year. So in some ways it makes some sense.

by PLU Tim on Jul 9, 2009 8:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Goodbye Yuni

From Baker:

So, I got hold of Jack Zdurincek, and asked him for some clarification of the “organziational decision” that was made to pull Yuniesky Betancourt. Told him I didn’t want to create an unnecessary feeding frenzy of trade speculation if this was in regard to Betancourt’s hamstring, or even a disciplinary issue.

“I can’t comment on that,‘’ he said. "I really can’t make any comment.’’

A GM would have no problem clarifying it if it wasn’t a trade. Goodbye Yuni.

You're too kind.

If I had more time on my hands and better quality tools, I would be giffing epic moments like that more. That one took me 6 hours to create because I had to erase Griffey from every frame and match the grass, dirt, fans, dugout, etc.

by Wilder. on Jul 9, 2009 8:37 PM PDT up reply actions

And I appreciate the dedication.

I try to avoid anything that will take more than 15min.
