Anyone going to I haz a cheezburger night?
Don't worry, I am not actually posting any lolcats for the fear of getting banned, but I was heading out to the game and wanted to see if any of my Lookouting Landing brethren will be going. It should be good, as it will be Felix's final start before the All-Star game. Hopefully he will further prove why he had been selected for his first All-Star game. Also, hopefully he can stop this two game skid, and give us 9 innings so we don't see another bullpen implosion.
So here is the website: http://icanhascheezburger.com/2009/05/19/funny-pictures-cheezburger-nite-seattle-mariners/

Yea of course.
I saw you and Brett at the game, but I don’t think you knew it was us. I sent a text to your number using a 206 area code. I feel sorry for whoever got that text.

Sorry
I cannot tell a lie. I want a shirt.
Unfortunately, I’m going to like three games this week, so paying for another one is out of the question. Also, I NEED that commercial DVD. Need. It. So that trumps cat shirt.

I'm just about sick of the Jay Buhner sun one.
I wish they would show the first names one. Ichiro saying, “Thadeus?” is classic.
I never really liked the old tagline.

And yes, vintage. All of them are being released on DVD at two separate games. The first is on Friday, the next is sometime in August, I believe; I marked it on the calendar. Need.

um,
can i get in on that? We can work something out, I’m sure. Tell you what, here’s the trade: The Nationals suck so bad that at any given weekday game there are so few people there that if you heckled a player, they would actually hear you.
If the out of town team is popular, this will not work, but pick a guy who you want to heckle on a team you hate, and I’ll go pass on whatever message you like.

actually,
come to think of it, I work with someone obsessed with lolcats, and have shown her the promos for this game. Is anyone willing to get me a t-shirt? I’m sure something can be worked out. It would be far too hilarious.

For anyone interested
There is a chance that I may actually obtain extra copies. I’m going early, like straight-after-work-obsessive-compulsive early to make sure I get my own, BUT I will also be there with 5 friends. The catch is, they’re not coming until later, because they’re just going for the game – SO, if they manage to wind up with copies, and I can get them to relinquish their DVDs, I will perhaps make a fanpost regarding how many I managed to procure, if any?

I didn't manage extra copies. :(
By the time I managed to herd everyone back from Pyramid, they were all gone. I looked for any left laying around, but there was a massive line in the door to get in at all entrances, so they must have been snapped up pretty quick.
I do, however, have my own copy….do with that information what you will…. ;)

That the copies being made would be copies of items that SafeCo is not going to make a profit off of anyway, by their own admission. While it may violate copyright laws, keep in mind that these are promotional items, and promotional items may not be subject to the same law. You can’t normally SELL promotional items, but I’m not seeing here that anyone is charging money for them, and more likely than not, a ton of these will wind up on eBay anyway.
As an ex-musician, I completely understand not wanting these things copied, however, they’re also not planning on selling them, so it isn’t as if we’d be bilking anyone out of money here – I personally don’t feel that fans that cannot make it to the game shoule be penalized for not being in close proximity to the stadium or being able to afford to go, but that’s just me….

If people are allowed to copy DVDs
They are less likely to purchase tickets for that game because they know they don’t have to go to the game to get the DVD. Just how the world works.

Not if they are not in town.
That’s mostly what we’re talking about.
Let’s face it—people from out of town do not base their game attendance around getting a DVD. Especially if there are two.

This ^
I don’t mean a mass copying of material, I’m specifically talking about promotional materials for those who literally cannot make it to the game.
Copyright laws are so sketchy. Unfortunately, I cannot find anything on the government website that covers this particular issue.

Dear Safeco Field
Should I be copying anything, it will be for fans who live out of town. Fans who fell in love with this team back when the ads were good. You know, when we had to love these guys. When Edgar taught us about a geoduck and when we told campfire stories about his fearsomeness? Back when SoDo MoJo might’ve meant something? Y’know, before a monkey was writing these commercials?
Let’s face it, Mariners employees, if we made it through 2008 and are still believing there just may be a new day and a new way, you probably don’t want to stop us from having a piece of our history. Right? Right?
by NOLAmarinergirl on Jul 9, 2009 1:04 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's the spirit!
Hey, I talked 5 other non-baseball fans into paying for this game, just so I wouldn’t have to go on my own; that has to count for something, amirite?

I just talked to my husband about this subject
He makes his living as a solo musician, so part of his job involves knowing stuff like this, because things like downloading mean we don’t have rent money.
Unfortunately, it is true – if the material is copyrighted, regardless of the intended use (commercial vs. promotional), it is technically illegal to copy and distribute any of it.
For my part, if my friends will give up any copies they get, I will happily redistribute as many of those copies as I legally obtain on a first-come, first serve basis. But that’s just me – your mileage may vary.
