“We weren’t trying to be hard negotiators and I understand the Mariners are a small-market team.”
Fire that agent, Kyle. I fully expect MLB to feed an agent crap like that, but an agent to relay that crap back to his client? Sure the M’s technically play in a “small market,” but they spend good money on their players.

Nice contract bonus...
“Another perk was more unusual. The Mariners had planned for Seager to debut with the Everett (Wash.) AquaSox to allow him get his feet wet in rookie ball. Now they’ve agreed to start him at Clinton (Iowa) in the Class A Midwest League. That will be more challenging, but if he hits he could leap onto the fast track toward Seattle.”
So, he starts up 3 notches in the M’s system. If he can whack doubles and get on base, and play reasonable 2B defense, we have a pretty nice player here…

What do you mean three notches? Don't most the college kids play in short season A ball?
Isn’t Clinton just basically one notch above that?

Three overall notches
So not Peoria (Notch #1), or Pulaski (Notch #2), or Everett (Notch #3), but Clinton.
Not that we expected him in Pulaski or Peoria in the first place.
