Speaking of happy,

wow what a Wimbledon. Last year’s was more tense, but I think the level of play between Roddick and Federer has been better.

by Matthew on Jul 5, 2009 9:47 AM PDT reply actions

Unreal shotmaking.

And they’re close to hitting the 4-hour mark. Just… unreal.

by Matthew on Jul 5, 2009 9:51 AM PDT up reply actions

Seriously, this is what tennis and sports is all about.

I can’t believe these two are topping last year’s final.

Go Roddick!

by Wilder. on Jul 5, 2009 9:54 AM PDT up reply actions

I know you're a huge Federer fan (really, who doesn't like the guy?), but Roddick is playing the best I have ever seen.

This is basically his career highlight if he beats Federer. Federer is going to get his 15th grand slam, but I would like to see Roddick take one away at Wimbledon.

by Wilder. on Jul 5, 2009 10:00 AM PDT up reply actions

Roddick has changed his game so much

it’s really impressive to see him playing this good after watching his game over the last few years. It’d just be a shame if he didn’t win.

by Fuckmikereilly on Jul 5, 2009 10:02 AM PDT up reply actions

It's excellent

Neither deserve to lose, but I’d rather have Roddick win.

Has Federer even won a break of serve the whole match, yet?

by MarkE on Jul 5, 2009 10:03 AM PDT up reply actions

It was in danger of being a disappointing tournament without Nadal

Roddick’s last three games have lit the whole thing up, which was in danger of being overshadowed by a story about a silly roof.

Went down there for one of the 2nd round days – how weak has the women’s singles been? Seriously.

by MarkE on Jul 5, 2009 10:06 AM PDT up reply actions

Holy crap.

Killer serve by Roddick there.

Baseball Prospectus' latest PECOTA odds

show a whopping 3 teams projected to eclipse 90 wins: Boston, New York and LA.

The three teams we just finish up playing coincidentally. Main point though, baseball has been remarkably even so far this year. Lots of flawed teams.

Heh. from the Times:

“Detroit left fielder Luis Gonzalez got a glove on the ball but it caromed right past center fielder Brian Hunter, who had gotten too close to the play. “I saw the ball bounce past Hunter and knew I had at least three bases,” Wilson said. “From there my back was to the play and I could only watch Smitty.”

Third base coach Steve Smith is a committed gambler with two outs. “Even with one out, I’d had waved Willie around,” Smith said. “I thought he had that good a shot at it. With two gone, he was going all the way. It was exciting.”

Wilson, who had Seattle’s last inside-the-parker in 1996, chugged on home and collapsed in a slide at home, far ahead of the late relay. “I really picked up on the excitement and energy of the crowd,” he said. “If only they could have done something for my wind. It took me a couple of innings to catch my breath.”"
