I love this quote:
Yuniesky Betancourt is now unlikely to rejoin the team prior to the All-Star break. Part of that is that the M’s don’t want to rush him back for the sake of a few games. The other part of it is that backup Ronny Cedeno seems to be gathering steam as he gets more playing time.
You can do it, Ronny!
Fingers crossed for Dave hope he's OK.
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.

That's beside the point
Given the resources available, and considering the optimization, this has the be one of the strongest lineups of the season if not the best.
It's one of the best we have to work with but it's not the best.
We’re arguing semantics.
Why did it look like Ichiro was glaring at Varitek and not the ump?
Weird.
I fucking hate you Mariners
I like how an easy double in a real park turns into a Fenway single
And yet routine popups are going to be doubles
They should put a bunch of angled panes on the Green Monster so there are random ricochets.
That’d be fun.
I fucking hate you Mariners
Has Langherhans ever played Fenway LF before?
He fielded a ball off the Monster last night, I thought he was positioned perfectly. Which is kind of phenomenal
So it's 10am,and I'm pretty sure most of the people in this particular neighborhood
Aren’t awake yet.
~I'm on the DA~
Oh noes!
Actually, we’re going to kill this neighborhood later. Later being the operative word…

I think it's stupid to complain about something that happens once a year and is inevitable on said day
by Graham MacAree on Jul 4, 2009 10:19 AM PDT up reply actions
My only fear this year is extra fires.
It has been unusually dry this year. I’ve been soaking my lawn to prepare.
I'm in unincorporated King County. Boulevard Park to be exact.
Later this year we are supposed to be annexed into Burien.
Ah.
There was a fire already on hwy 3 out by Silverdale within the last 24 hours or so, so I can see why it could be an issue. I live in the city, and our grass is still green, so you don’t notice the dry as much. Stay safe!

Garrett Olson vs the Red Sox lineup?
Oh no.

I thought he retired.

He gets a sack of peanuts for every hit...
He was already planning where to hide them in the stadium for October.
The grass looks unusually green today, I'll agree
But more, I think it’s just nice to have baseball on.
~I'm on the DA~
Well it looks like we're going to get our asses handed to us today.

I'm beginning to suspect that Garrett Olson, may in fact, not be very good.

It was pretty stupid to make the 3rd out at 3rd.
I fucking hate you Mariners
Well obviously that's good.
I fucking hate you Mariners
Although on review, Varitek made a hell of a play and throw.
I fucking hate you Mariners
It wasn't the worst thing to do
but the difference between being on second and being on third with two outs isn’t huge, I don’t think.

That ruins the majesty of Fenway though....
Boston fans are idiots….

I'm still trying to figure out
How the Nats ever thought that trade was a good idea.
Not complaining, just wondering…

Over at the Nationals blog
they still seem to think Langerhans is crap. So…

Gameday is a robot trying to turn us against the umps
so in the future, their robot brothers can take over umpiring and ruin the game of baseball, while simultaneously becoming our robot overlords. LOOK AWAY!

Try just watching the box score on a computer screen.
You’ll long for Olson sans control.

God damnit sliding into first reminds me of the kids I used to play with that thought they were super hotshots and would slide head first into every base.
It’s stupid. I suppose that was a potentially OK time to do it but still.
I have irrational hate for head first sliding into first.
Also, that is results based analysis: I’m sure Cedeno didn’t think that when he was going to slide because he always does that stupid shit.
Hating on Ronny is so over

This is a little off-topic but was David Bell a good defensive 3B? I'm having a little argument over here.
I hope you die. I hope we BOTH die.
I know he had a reputation of being a good defensive 3B.
I have no idea if he was or not, though.
Fangraphs gives him UZR's of 5.5,4.4,9.7,12.4(!) and 4.1
Of course, these are all after he played for the M’s.
The Rise of a Superstar:Justin Upton-.425 wOBA, 21 years old.
That's actually a lot better than I expected.
I would have pegged him as a -5<x<5 kind of guy.
Do you think he was a better value than Rolen at the time we signed him?
I hope you die. I hope we BOTH die.
A shade behind Adrian. I always thought the people that didn't like his defense were keying on his throw to first.
He had a little flip throw, all in the wrist.
Did you drop by just for this observation?

Ms doing a grreat job of working the count
On Penny the last few innings.
Proud member of Duck nation!
It's amazing
We actually have like four hitters in the lineup who work the count
So glad to hear Dave is feeling better
It just doesn’t feel like Mariners baseball without his voice.

"Olson seems to have found his rhythm"
Drills the batter on the next pitch
It got to be a bit fast, Lowe was throwing 100 last night according to their gun. White was consistently at 95, too.
I hope you die. I hope we BOTH die.
I like have to like how Sims is touting clubhouse leadership as a factor in being resigned.
