Wait did Bedard pass the 'has girl parts' label off to Clement by pitching through pain?
I missed that memo

Bartlett's still under control for two more seasons and Tim Beckham should theoretically be ready within three.
But I will miss Brignac dearly if he’s dealt.

I'm not so sure about these Blue Jays fans...
Assuming they’re from British Columbia, you know, which isn’t all that far from Seattle, why are they rooting for a team on the other end of the Country? Do they just think they’re nationalist or being extremely Patriotic or what? Stuff like this bugs me, its SERIOUS business.

If Washburn were on the mound
Ichiro would have turned that into an out.
So is Lowe on the Randy Johnson career path?
100mph but no control until one day he gets it.
Except he's not a starter and his fastball is straighter and his slider isn't nearly as good
But yes, besides that.

This would be a fitting end to Washburn's career as a Mariner
Terrible run support throughout his tenure, capped off by the bullpen blowing it in his last game.

This will be the best tricks of the trade show since the Rob Johnson one.

Oh, is that what is taking so long?
Seems strange trying to keep players from getting back on the field.
Announcing a massive above slot deal might mess with negotiations for the rest of the league
by Graham MacAree on Jul 28, 2009 10:20 PM PDT up reply actions
Yes.
Even if teams and agents have reached agreements, MLB won’t let them announce it for fear of the news inflating the market.
Does MLB have that kind of power over MLB transactions?
Also, does this mean that a team can sign a player whenever but not ANNOUNCE that they have signed him until MLB says they can, or does that mean that the team can’t SIGN the player until MLB says they can?
That would be a concession that the player's union hasn't given up so I don't think that's allowed
by Graham MacAree on Jul 28, 2009 10:23 PM PDT up reply actions
I'm not following.
Are you saying the player’s union is negotiating for the players and not the agent?
Poythress just signed, JY said Franklin's pretty close (I think), but Ackley's going until the 17th of August by all indications.
I wish more draftees were like Chipper Jones.
Sign a respectable contract and get yourself on the field to stay on top of development.
Nick Franklin is an 18 year old who will hopefully never have a summer vacation again until he'sin his late 30s.

Therefore what’s the problem?

Franklin isn't who I specifically asking about (although it is good to know).

Salk is good...
but he’s been on the “What are we going to do about 2010 without Washburn!! We need to re-sign him!!!” kick that the rest of the Seattle media has been on.
But he's been really fair when others call in to argue that Washburn should be traded.
I don’t expect radio personalities to be perfect. The fact that he’s willing to listen to other schools of thought and admit that they’ve got a lot of merit is a huge improvement over what the Seattle market used to have.
