Spread some Vegemite on those bad boys and you've got yourselves a snack
A disgusting snack, true, but still. I like lazy regional stereotypes so every Australian puts Vegemite on their TimTams. BONZER!
Nice Guys Finish Third - My semantics are a waste of time.
and oh my god do I love TimTams by the way
Nice Guys Finish Third - My semantics are a waste of time.
RRS isn't very good.
But I guess he’s better than Olsen right now and deserves a shot. I am also glad that they didn’t recall Morrow to replace Olsen.
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.
Best option we've got at this point
And I still think he could be a competent fourth or fifth starter.

I'd give Sunday's start to Jakubauskas
he’s pitched decently out of the pen, and actually has been ~average the whole season by tRA.
He's been terrible as a starter
But he seems to be a step above Vargas and Olson, and Morrow isn’t nearly ready. So yeah, I’m ready to give him a spot start.

tRA begs to disagree
and thinks he’s been above average as a starter

Okay so he's just looked terrible
I don’t believe he’d be above average if he continued to start on a consistent basis. He had a few excellent starts sprinkled in with the bad ones, if I remember correctly. But like I said, willing to give him another shot there.

He has survived by an unsustainably low LD%
He’s a bad starter.

Even his tRA* is only 4.9 though
he’s not that awful. He’s better than Olson.

He doesn't miss bats, put the ball on the ground, or really throw that many strikes
I’m skeptical is all I’m saying.
by Jeff Sullivan on Jul 22, 2009 4:29 PM PDT up reply actions
So do you think his tRA* is a mirage then because his career LD% sample is so small
that’s it’s regressing towards his current, lucky results rather than what his likely true talent level is?
I also have a hard time believing that he has a true talent level of 3.6% SwStr rates, but since we know that stabilizes quickly…

This is only good news if he doesn't suck
so don’t suck Ryan. Make us proud. I hope Guti’s knees are at 100% for your start.

The bar is low after Olson's last start
Maybe we need a new metric besides a ‘quality start’. How about a ‘not sucking start’ where you don’t give up more than 1 run per inning on average?
Chicks dig the long ball.
We should assign punctuation marks to all the Ms
Langerhans - ^ (for his eyebrows and hair color) !
Gutierrez -
Ichiro – #
Branyan – *
Silva – :
Olson – ?
Felix – $
Aardsma – +
Chicks dig the long ball.
RRS
Has been Great in Tacoma thru July. As long as he can give us innings at an OK ERA we’ll be fine.
