Guaranteed win if RRS started today... no way could he have squandered 6 runs of support

This game would have been entirely different
in every way imaginable if RRS had started.

I just realized that we have a better record than the Tigers.
I am pleased by this development.
"Part, fools!
Put up your swords. You know not what you do."
It annoys me to be honest, knowing that we'd be in first if we were in their division.
This must be how feels to be a fan of the Rays/Jays/O’s.
Fuck Anaheim.
Yeah, it really seems odd to me whenever I hear that the Yankees are still like 4 or 5 games behind Boston.
That division is real tough. Then again, we have the goddamn Angels winning every game they deserve to lose.

The Yankees are tied at the moment I think
but yeah, it’s definitely annoying knowing that the two teams aren’t legitimately good like in the ALE.
Fuck Anaheim.
Dammit, knock it off!

If we win this I’m going to be happier than I’ve been all season. Just the sheer relief about everything would be overwhelming

I am already happy.
Gutz is okay and we scored more than 4 runs. I couldn’t ask for much more. Except a competent starting pitcher.

Folks, I don't think we can win today.
Not with pitching like this.
(Set your expectations low and then when something good happens it feels even better.)
I don't know how to stop.
I just got here, so this is the first time I noticed.
I can’t believe the one time Griffey hits it opposite field on the ground we are playing against a team that doesn’t use the shift.

I really liked Clint back in the day. For a while there, I thought that with how many sliders he had thrown over his career, his elbow must be indestructible or something, but then we sadly discovered this was not the case.

by Fuckmikereilly on Jul 21, 2009 7:29 PM PDT up reply actions
I don't think we have a great chance, but we might as well wait until the deadline or a day or two before
No reason to sell when we have another week to close the gap a little bit
My Mariners blog - SodoMojo Twitter Feed
I'm fine with moving Washburn and/or Bedard if it doesn't hurt this year's team but going into full-on sell mode at this point is nuts.
by Aaron Campeau on Jul 21, 2009 7:32 PM PDT up reply actions
Anything 5 or more, I say sell
And I think, even if we win these next two, we’ll be there.
We can’t really do full-on sell mode anyway. I just don’t want to wait too long on the fringes of a pennant race where we’re making no ground to the point that our return is diminished.
by Fuckmikereilly on Jul 21, 2009 7:39 PM PDT up reply actions
This is irrelevant.
We’d still have to make up 5 games over the Angels over the last 70ish games.
by Fuckmikereilly on Jul 21, 2009 7:44 PM PDT up reply actions
That isn't as tough as you are making it seem.
by Aaron Campeau on Jul 21, 2009 7:45 PM PDT up reply actions
It's not very easy
If they go .500 we have to go .580ish. And asking the Angels to go .500 seems like a lot lately. This all doesn’t even take the Rangers into account.
by Fuckmikereilly on Jul 21, 2009 7:50 PM PDT up reply actions
One really good stretch for us, and/or one really bad stretch for them, and it all looks different
My Mariners blog - SodoMojo Twitter Feed
The depressing thing is
We are in a pretty good stretch right now
3-2 since the break while the Angels are 5-1 since the break
Rangers also 3-2
My Mariners blog - SodoMojo Twitter Feed

M’s 6-3, and we’ve lost 2 games in the standings in that time.

All that this proves is that the Angels are outperforming expectations.
It’s still a long-shot and I don’t think anyone is denying that, but punting should not be an option at this point.
by Aaron Campeau on Jul 21, 2009 8:59 PM PDT up reply actions
And there's no reason to think the Angels are going to continue to play this well

You're probably on the same page as everybody else
Or quite a few people, perhaps even the majority. Seems like the majority believes either of those pitchers could be flipped for player(s) and the team could potentially improve. Depending on the player(s) and their respective positions.
Again, I am fine with trading Washburn and Bedard if we get MLB ready talent in return for one of them.
I would be fine with that if we were in first place. I do not want the team to make itself worse (by trading Branyan or something) unless they are out of the race on July 31.
by Aaron Campeau on Jul 21, 2009 7:43 PM PDT up reply actions
She's fantastic.
The stuff about Wash is entertaining. I like that his kids get to brag about being “buddies with Ichiro” to their friends.
Wow, it's free on the website; I think I'll watch it too
It’ll be nice to watch them without my Chelsea goggles on.
Fuck Anaheim.
Yeah this is the first time I've watched Seattle in a few weeks
since I only get to see them when they’re on ESPN or playing an LA team.
[DELETED ZOMG NO POLITICS]
Porcello vs. Olson was a shit storm waiting to happen in the first place.
I’m just happy that Gutierrez isn’t fucked, Felix is pitching tomorrow, and the offense was actually pretty solid. 5.5 games back would be awful, but taking 2 of 3 might put us right back into the spot we were in going in to today….it’s a shitty loss, but it could’ve been an abysmal day, instead of just a bad one.

Well
Could you guys imagine winning a game like this and LOSING ground in the division? Well, thanks to the Angels sweeping the doubleheader, it could have happened!
The Angels have a 1 run lead in the sixth inning, and the Royals have the tying run in scoring position with 1 out
Seems a little premature to declare it a sweep

Drayer just said that she was amazed at how good Guti looked in the clubhouse after that hit--
it is wait and see on how much his elbow & knee swell overnight
Moving around pretty well, not groggy, a good cut over his knee that they closed with a butterfly bandage ...
She (and Franklin) both think it will be a couple of games.
