Pray For Guti Thread
I didn't see it, but I heard about it, and hearing about it made me sad.
:(
No word on his condition as of 5:35.
5:36 update: Saw it. Pad your damn walls
5:41 update: If I heard Sims right, Guti is day-to-day with a contusion, and x-rays "may have been" negative, whatever that means. If true, our season lives on!
Later update: Confirmation from Stone at Baker's blog.
It doesn't sound as dire as it looked. He has a left elbow and left knee contusion, and x-rays on his knee were negative. He also has an abrasion on his left knee. He's listed as day to day. That's about as good an outcome as you could hope for. It sounds like nothing is broken or sprained.

News just came in, HOLY SHIT THE X-RAYS ARE NEGATIVE.
Just contusions. Lucky lucky lucky.
The prayers worked.
I don't know how to stop.

Every stadium has an x-ray machine for just these sorts of situations.
And it doesn’t take long at all to develop them.
I don't know how to stop.

This just had to happen while he's on a tear and putting his offensive game together.
Too fucking convenient. Suck it, baseball gods.

Immediate good news is obviously much better than immediate bad
but I’m always wary until the player returns to the field.

GUTI IS A MACHINE MADE OF STEEL
Hopefully this will teach him to take a page out of Ichiro’s book and stop making injury-inviting plays.

I think this is a sign that we should change the site subtitle back to Branyan

I meant if you change it back to Branyan.
Although that’s like telling Griffey not to ground out to 2nd

At least we’re not Detroit.

But still no word on how long he'll be out?
And at the very least, this’ll probably fuck up his hot streak. Oh well. Better than it could’ve been.

This is why Ichiro doesn't dive for balls...
Though I understand it was a wall. Ichiro probably would have stopped short had he realized that he was going to break himself.
Also, WTF with non-padded outfield walls? This isn’t an ancient stadium like Wrigley.
Let’s spread caltrops around specific areas of the outfield next time Detroit comes to Seattle and see how they like it.

Outfield walls need to be padded.
And stadiums need to have retractable roofs.

YES! Absolutely best-case scenario.
A couple of bruises and he skinned his knee. It looked to me like he just had the wind knocked out of him, but I thought that was just what I wanted to see.

Hey there.
Just wanted to say I’m glad Guti is all right. It’s never a good thing to see a guy go down like that.
