Against the Padres.
Although you’d have to put an asterisk by it because the Padres are a joke.
And he did it!
How about that, the guy called up to pitch for Randy Johnson on the DL pitched a no-hitter. Yeah, it was against the Padres, who make our Ms look like offsensive geniuses.
Another reason why Lincecum is so great — he was mad at himself for how ‘bad’ he pitched yesterday, a no-hitter going into the 7th inning…
I would like to think that LL is made up of offensive geniuses

I show know by now to check stuff that guys on FSN say...
My bad. I parroted what FSN said when they cut to a clip of Sanchez’ final pitch. My fault for not checking.
NO hitter. NO hitter. NO hitter. NO hitter. NO hitter.
Lets see him do it now.
Just lay down and take it Ronny, that way Ichiro will lead off the 8th
My Mariners blog - SodoMojo Twitter Feed
He can't even do that right.
He should’ve been on the 2008 Mariners.
I'm more like I am now than I've ever been.
For some reason he just looks like he would be a giant douche.

most 3B catch that
Is one of the worst 3B in the league for a areason

Fun fact
So as a proxy for number of times stranded: (1B+2B+3B+BB+HBP)-(R+HR)
Not counting today, Ichiro comes out with 86 times this year.
Hank Blalock has 9.
by Manzanillos Cup on Jul 10, 2009 9:10 PM PDT reply actions
Poor Ichiro. What a waste, we need another bat in the middle desperately.
But Blalock’s number is amazingly low.
They got too much oomph in Texas for some reason.
FUUUUUUCK...

Well... Gutierrez will be up in the 8th... perhaps with men on base.

I jinxed the Giants by turning to the Padres home broadcast
Here goes the no-no

oh well
not tonight, it seems
"Get offa my lawn!"
Late, but I really liked how Olson looked
Would prefer Olson (or Vargas, or even Jak) starting over Morrow.
Why start the game with a disadvantage?
I'd still do him if it would get his arm to Seattle
Which is why guys become sports stars and rock musicians. Chicks dig the long ball!
Better than blind love.
I would prefer Morrow get seasoning in Tacoma than worsening our chances up here.
Who blindly loves Brandon Morrow?
He’s still a better starter than Garrett Olson.
by Jeff Sullivan on Jul 10, 2009 9:28 PM PDT up reply actions
Watching his starts versus Olson's start, you could have fooled me.
I agree fully that he has the better stuff.
But he seems like a damn headcase. It may be preference, but I can’t stand watching headcases.
Interesting at bat to Cruz
the first two pitches were right on the border. As is, the count was 2-0, and that’s fine. But it also could’ve easily been 1-1 or even 0-2, and then who knows? On the plus side, that home run won’t matter, on account of us.
I wonder if we were McC how long it would take for someone to make the first Uribe lynching reference

I'd really love something to happen this inning, but I also want to watch the Giants.
Such a dilemma!
Question
Why not walk Gutz and use Holland for Langerhans? I know the intentional walk is stupid, but it seems like Gutz is on fire and Langerhans is a lefty.
Umm...
how does griffey not score on that?

Can people give a holler when it's top of the ninth for the Giants?
I don’t have MLBtv, just waiting for them to switch over on ESPN. so I have to keep flipping channels.

Yeah, what an asshole.
How dare he do that…to his own teammate, even.
I'm more like I am now than I've ever been.
I'm surprised
I thought he got two gift calls, but Gameday says they were just perfectly placed.

Uhhhh...robots and stuff
But still cool to watch
Yeah I just checked that too
Huh. Could have sworn that was a blown call.

Branyan doesn't handle pressure
Which is why he bats 2nd. Look at how many of his HRs have been solos. If he’s up first in an inning the probability goes way up.
Looking at BA alone is useless.
Branyan is second on the team in OBP, and his SLG is almost 100 points higher than the next-best guy. He’s been the best hitter on the team.
I agree he's awesome, but
I just don’t think he believes it quite yet himself. That he’s the guy who can crush the ball out in a do-or-die situation and win the game.
Let’s hope he rests up during the All-Star break. He seems to come out swinging after a day or two off.
Also, his OBP is < .100 more than his BA
It was .125 higher a month ago when he was batting .320. You can feel him getting less patient, either pressure or green-lighted to go for his personal best HR record.
Because walk off grand slams are cooler than walk off three run shots
and that’s what Guti is gonna do

Also have Fields and Aumont
Are we reasonably sure these guys aren’t already better than what we have up here?
Let's just forget this game.
And pretend it is last night?
And how about Felix striking out the the side in the 8th?!
Fuck Anaheim.

Well Kelley is obviously to blame
You have one job, to get one out, and he can’t do it without giving up 2 runs.
Bring up Cortes for the bullpen now!
I am happy but if we don't subsequently make a move for another shortstop I will be a little less happy
by Jeff Sullivan on Jul 10, 2009 9:56 PM PDT up reply actions
What do you mean Krueger we would have had a chance?
It would have been tied.
Change one thing you change everything
If Kelley doesn’t allow that homer, you can’t assume we would have scored exactly two runs.
You're right
We would have had more life and we would have subsequently gone out to score 3 runs to win the game
It's possible — maybe the infield would have been in on Langerhans' grounder and it would have been a hit and we'd have scored five
Also, Tejas might have used pitchers differently or thrown different pitches or defended differently and we’d have lost by two anyway.
Frickafracking Kelley and Wakamatsu
Yet again, Wak takes out Garrett Olson after he pitches great. Then in 1/3 of an inning, Shawn Kelly gives up 2 runs (54.0 ERA). Wak has to take some blame for this one.
Good news of the bad news is that the Ms actually rallied a bit in the 8th. Not Angels or Orioles quality rallying, but it was something.
Who was that dufus calling the game next to Blowers?
That jerk jinxed Ichiro’s at-bat! While Ichiro’s up there, this moron was talking about some minor leaguer’s hitting streak being broken.
What a gawdamn buzz-killing thing to talk about when the home team is down a couple runs in the ninth, and the 1-2-3 hitters coming to the plate!!!
Fire that jerk!

Tui played 3B tonight on his rehab assignment. And homered.

If we tank, we'd better be the best at it this time.
No mediocre 2nd-best tanking this year. We need to be the best at something. If we’re gonna suck, let’s be the #1 sucker.
BREAKING NEWS!!
All of the Angels team has shrinked to midgets!
If I knew where Young lived he'd have quite the pile of feces to clean off his lawn.

You should probably just go shit all willy-nilly in Seattle hotels until the series is over
by Jeff Sullivan on Jul 10, 2009 10:11 PM PDT up reply actions 2 recs
On a slightly different note. Which hotel do opposing teams stay in now when in Seattle?
They used to stay at the Crowne Plaza, but not anymore. Anybody know?

ESPN has it all screwed up
One of ESPN’s headlines on its website is “Mets land Braves’ Francoeur in trade”
It definitely should be “Braves fleece Mets in a one-for-one trade as they land Ryan Church”
I just got a brilliant idea!
Have the bullpen wear those cool warrior helmets. Then, it would intimidate them..
Also, what we need to do is add Jim Cavaziel to our lineup.
Did you see those swings!?
So I'm ready for a fresh arm in the pen.
And just in case anyone forgot YUNI’S GONE WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
