Buyers or Sellers
At five games out in a WEAK American League West. Should the Mariners be buyers or sellers?
For example...
Verducci from SI says that the Giants aren't getting much production from Travis Ishikawa at the plate, though the plus/minus system ranks him as the best defensive first baseman in the league. Verducci also wonders if the Giants would use Jonathan Sanchez to acquire a player such as Jorge Cantu, Nick Johnson, Miguel Tejada or Garrett Atkins. I say...why not take Ishikawa and Sanchez to get Beltre.
If the Mariners are sellers...who do they sell and what do they sell for?

Hold with considerations....
Mainly, is the individual that is being traded going to be a type A free agent? There really isn’t any enormous incentive to be a buyer.
What would they buy with? An already depleted farm system that some very shrewd moves has just begun to restock? Get even more unneccessary outfielders? Its a good time to hold, and trade someone who is good, but not too good (not a type A free agent) and continue to build for the future.
Moreover, moving pieces like Endy Chavez or Wlad, makes sense with how well Saunders is doing. And if anyone were interested in either Lopez or Betancourt, great, but it there are only so many teams out there that would take either.
Lopez to the A-Team in exchange for Faceman.
Betancourt to Team Venture for Brock Samson.

Bud Selig?
Seriously, his gaping maw as he left the podium after every single pick yesterday was incredible.
