Mavericks Play 21-inning Game
The High Desert Mavericks just won against the Stockton Ports. It took them twenty-one innings. The game laster about hours and forty-five minutes. It was suspended at five hours and fourteen innings last night due to league rules stipulating that no inning should start after midnight.
The Mavericks used eight pitchers, five of which threw three innings or more. The Ports used nine and only had three with three innings or more. One of the hitters for the Ports had ten at-bats. Two players on each team had eight or more at-bats without a hit.
In the twenty-first, Joe Dunigan (3-6, 4 BB, 2 2B) walked and was moved to second on a single by Alex Liddi. From the looks of it, the two attempted a double steal and the ball ended up airmailed into center and Dunigan scored.

Before anyone calls me on it...
Defensive props to Carlos Peguero, for getting the final out of the 20th on a play at the plate.

And on the note of other unsightly things happening in minor league baseball...
The Reno Aces are leading the Tacoma Rainiers 17-3 in the fifth.
Wowsers.

I *almost* went to this game. Good call, marc w.
Also: “The game laster about hours”
Yeah, man. Yeah.
Huh.
I typed out eight at first and then got confused by the box which said 6:43 at the time (it’s now 7:34 officially).
I must have thought about editing it so hard that I believed I actually did it.
