Felix threw nothing but outside FB to Clark all day
I wonder if this is everyone’s approach or just our own wunderkind’s genius gameplan. Seems like a terrible idea to me. Goose?

His contract is written so that he is automatically released by the M's if they DFA him, I think.
Whereas Shelton signed a minor league contract with us.

Question:
Should Wak consider playing Branyan in LF to get Carp’s lefty bat in the lineup against some RHPs? that would give us Branyan, Carp, Ichiro, and Griffey as lefties.
Branyan also seems servicable at corner OF: 0.5 UZR/150 in 54 games 2006 (-61.8 UZR/150 in 13 games in 2007, but still).
by Decatur on Jun 21, 2009 2:56 PM PDT reply actions 0 recs
Would Carp at LF be better?
Probably no though.
by Fuckmikereilly on Jun 21, 2009 2:58 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I know Carp played a little LF in Tacoma, maybe he could play there?
The idea of Russ in LF scares me a little bit.

Branyan runs a good deal better than Carp.

This coming from someone who believes Justin Upton has average speed.
by Wilder. on Jun 21, 2009 3:00 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
I haven't watched Upton play much, so I'll freely admit I could be wrong about that. How fast is he?
Also, I didn’t say Branyan had good speed. He’s just faster than Carp.
by Decatur on Jun 21, 2009 3:04 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
And how much have you seen Carp play?
by Wilder. on Jun 21, 2009 3:07 PM PDT up reply actions 0 recs
Not much either. I'm going off of what I read from Baseball America and the like on that.
I’m not asserting these opinions of mine about these three players’ speed and defense particularly strongly, either. It’s just a few impressions I got from scouting reports I saw and watching them play a few games.
