It's now far enough in the season to use baseballrace.com again
When you watch the standings like this it doesn’t seem so bad.
Holy crap I had no idea we were only 3.5 games back.

True, but not an isolated phenomenon
If the M’s were in another division, they would be out of first by (division leader):
AL Central – 3.0 (Detroit)
NL East – 3.0 (Philadelphia)
NL Central – 3.5 (St. Louis)
The only divisions the M’s would be far behind in are the NL West – 10.5 (Dodgers) and AL East – 7.0 (Boston).

I would even argue that the AL West is not so much awful as just lacking a good team. But maybe that's what people mean when they say the division is bad.
Taken as a group, the AL West is six games over .500 this year. Then again, the division has also been outscored by 25 runs.

Parsing, but a fair point
The division is still bad regardless of comparison. But this could be an argument to continue being Buyers. And, the M’s are in the only 4-team division in baseball. Buy!

I was thinking the same exact thing. And we're about to play the Padres again.
We better close the gap a little more before we go to hell for 9 days.
I still don't understand why Sweeney started.

WHO CALLED THIS SHIT?!
That’s right bitches. .500!!!! We’re adequate now, son!
...and now I'm here
I called us sweeping the last series of the year to lose the #1 pick last in May '08.
No one will ever touch that prediction.
I called Griffey singlehandedly curing cancer in January, 1993.
Once that happens, your prediction will be put to shame.

Is that running Mariner in the background waving a gun above his head at the fleeing Ranger?

Closer analysis reveals:

- The “Ranger”, in street clothes, has just stolen the portfolio of the “Mariner” in business attire.
- The businessman is giving chase, but his prospects for recovering the stolen item do not look good. He is raising his arm in protest while the criminal accelerates and looks back mockingly. The author’s allegory is bordering on sedition.
- The Mariner-man is wearing the team logo over/from his groinal area, while the Ranger-thief’s logo is firmly on his stomach. The symbolism is disturbing.
- Jeff’s choice of cheap stock photography of EU origin, possibly one of the Benelux countries, ultimately hurts America.

I'm unsure of who the Mariner is, but the Ranger is Josh Hamilton.
He’s making his break with the crack.

Gotta like going like a hot knife through butter through the weak part of the schedule.
I don’t know how the rest of this turns out once we’re not playing weak NL sisters, but I’ll take what I can get after last year. A division with nobody winning 90 and our shot at the lead looks very much within reach. I like this.

You have it backwards
The Cards bats have awaken after facing AAAA (read AL) pitching the last week.
Nice to see Wlad's bat speed turning into solid power, he turned nicely on that pitch for the HR.
Now we need to see that more consistently.
I was at Shea for the Felix-Slam!
Personal M's record: 5-4.
